Default JB Weld for solder on clevis?

I am no good at soldering - any reason not to use JB weld for metal to attach clevis to metal push rod ?

Yes. It's called the earth. Don't do it. Dan.

JB Weld has it's place, but that's not on a clevis or control rod. Soldering is required skill, and one that you need to be good at, if you want to fly G/S models. Think "safety". There are lots of soldering tutorials on YouTube, and other places on the net. Anyone can learn to to do it.

Find somebody that has the skill and have them teach you. After that, practice. It's not that hard and a needed skill.

JB Weld is often used on large scale models to adhear the threaded titanium links to the carbon fiber pushrods. Its been done that way for years & if done correctly theres nothing wrong with useing it. All my helicopter links were attached with JB weld & even in violent crashes none have failed. You should use a good grade of silver solder or learn how to braze if you elect to go the solder rout.....Gene

Soldering is almost like another hobby for me, unusual perhaps but i enjoy soldering. For clevises i use Stay Brite, you really do not need to get to the level of brazing, at least not at first and certainly not for a clevis. Like any thing else it takes practice but once you get the hang of it, it is not difficult at all. Decent equipment and patience are important as well. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXFS75&P=ML

Plus one on the Staybrite!

As far as JB Weld is concerned, using it on a threaded rod screwed into a carbon-fiber pushrod; that is a completely different arrangement. JB Weld will not hold a clevis to a metal rod, period. The aircraft will be lost and bystanders could be put in peril.

Problem solved. Watched some videos on different types of soldering . Purchased a Bernzomatic #ST250 micro torch & soldering set, and silver bearing solder with tube of flux. Also got
an adjustable "helping hands" holder doodad. Bodda Bing Bodda Boom Shazam. After soldering the clevises, pulled out the electrical solder and did a couple of wires just for practice. Piece of cake when you have the right tools !
