Hi Yukonpete, nice to meet you. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Your wing doesnt look too bad, Ive lost about 6 inches on the end of one side and about 2 on the other. I think it would be the hardest part of repairing the plane.
Looks a pretty decent flying field you have there but I cant imagine just packing up for winter. We have to put up with our share of windy days, especially about this time of year but you can still sneak out here and there and have some fun.

Lotsofcrashes, upload photos by hitting the reply button near the top right side of a posting, then at the bottom left of the typing box you will see 'Click here to upload images and files!'.
Click on that and you can take it from there.

I now have the ignition battery pack on the left side of the fuel tank and the onboard pack on the right side of the fuel tank. This should help out a little with the CG. The weather is not cooperating at all here. It was cloudy and a high of only 48° here today.

I was born and raised in Sydney. My twin brother started flying RC planes last year and joined the club in the Terry Hills area.

Has anyone heard when these planes will be available in Australia again?

Have you checked Horizon Hobby website for shipping cost? They now have them back in stock.
I assembled the plane and with both battery packs next to the fuel tank the CG is spot on at the 4 1/8" mark so I'm pretty close. Shouldn't take much more lead up front I hope.

I have a couple of engines that should be viable candidates for it, or a RCGF 20cc rear exhaust, a DEL30cc and also a G26 that I'm converting into EI
Any of those should do OK I believe.
Does anyone know the max length from the firewall to the face of the prop driver?

I got the canopy on last night. What I did was trimmed alot of the black off at the bottom of it and then glued it and taped it all the way around and it looks good, it actually didnt fit as bad as I first thought it would. The key is you have to scissors trim the bottom where the black is about 1/8" on both sides and start at the front and work it down tight with tape, then tape down the top then lastly pull the sides down and tape down good all around it fits nicely sealed the whole way now.
I also took off the stock 3 inch wheels and replaced them with H9 Pro Lite 3.5" wheels I only had to grind the openings in the pants a little bit longer the clearance was fine as far as the wheels did not bottom out on the pant itself.

Still waiting on my muffler, but even if I'd gotten it prpbably wouldn't have had it in the air yet. Too much else going on; first grandchild just arrived!

I am really interested in your comments on the success of the OS 120AX in the new Taylorcraft and would like to ask for your critical view after the maiden flight. I have that engine installed in a 4*120 and it is a magnificent performer with great power and reliability. I also value the straight forward simplicity of a 2 stroke installation. I like large climbing loops that require strong power but I am not a 3D flyer nor do I like to fly at just scale speeds. Your thoughts on the Brisson muffler would also be appreciated. Good luck on the maiden.

Well I got my covering in the mail yesterday so I finished the repair of my wing. You would never know I crashed my Taylorcraft except for the checkered covering on the bottom of the wing. The colour does not match. I ordered the covering listed in the manual but the red checkers is lighter in colour. Wish they matched the colour better. Well its on the bottom of the wing so its not a big deal.

Thanks, Howard.
Sounds like we do tje same sort of flying. I'm not a 3D type, and have no interest in hovering this thing over the middle of the field. Like to fly it more scale-like. I'll post a couple of pics of the install of the 120AX on here when (if) I EVER get the JTEC muffler my LHS ordered. Couldn't find a Brisson anywhere....
And can't do a maiden until I get the muffler. I'll keep you posted.

Just to be sure, I emailed Horizon Hobby and asked them to confirm that. They confirmed the firewall to thrustwasher distance for this aircraft is 148mm.
Edited to correct the distance I listed for the Zenoah 20ei.

Hi guys, all your planes are looking great. I still haven't started my build, I am unsure if my engine choice is going to work. I have the Saito FG-20. It is flying my Funtana quite well not massive amounts of power for 3D type flying but I'm not into that. I am getting about 8700 RPM on a 16x6 APC prop anyone here with Zenoah experience know how that compares to a 20ei? I am only looking to do scale flying with this plane still need some authority to get me out of trouble if I need it.
Thanks
Thanks

Good detective work ken, which engine are you going to use? no problems for me as the 182 is 123mm i think and the twin carbies will fit under the cowl top.

The DLE30 sounds pretty good too, although I am concerned about the stench of gas. I store my planes in a spare bedroom, and the stinking smell of gas might jepordize that situation.
Yep, I am the boss of my house... just don't tell my wife!
In any case, it is nice to have options! I am working on a couple other planes first, so I have some time to decide.
