Thanks MobyAl for the backup on the cleanup - and the engine sound can't be beat -

My DLE 30 is about 1/8'' out from the front of the cowl with the original standoffs. One issue is covering up the original mounting holes. I have two opinions, cover them with a small piece of covering or painting the black mounting bolts white and reinstalling them and use 4/40 bolts with rubber backed washers on the cowl. I am also using a pitts syle muffler from J-Tech.

Couple more comments....My throttle servo is mounted under the pilots floor using a flex rod with a manual choke rod to the front of the cowl. I installed two on/off charge switches next to the door(had to make one cutout larger) for my A123 batteries.

Good Luck

Steve
Thanks Steve. It appears that you have the DLE-30 installation well figured out. I'll keep you posted on my build.

Y'all got me chuckling. I don't much like clean up but I don't much like airplanes that don't sound like airplanes either so personally I've chosen not to go electric. I'd never however, suggest to someone that has gone electric, that his choice is inferior. I've life long friends who now fly exclusively electric. Our preferences are personal... there is no right or wrong. It's all good... except those stinky diesels.

papparossi... very nice looking plane... if it flies as good as it looks... I understand why you are anxious to fly again soon.

Totally agree, and even faster with the bnf version of this, But lets say that you do need to spend some time building an arf at least its quite exiting,
Some peaple still go for the plane kits thow, For me the only good think about the kit form is that you take for ever to finish so you dont start looking for the next project? well you all know what i mean.

Can anyone help with this? I have mooved the cg backwards, but i keep ending up with the elevator at 4 clics trim up, The plane flies good and holds level at slow and high speed sg seems right. Anyone came across this here? Tailorcraft 26cc gas. thanks

because it is a high wing plane there is some control coupeling on knife edge it wants to tuck one of the reasons is the insidencs between the wing and stab are not O this also causes the need for up trim

Paparozzi,

Rather than use trim, have you tried the "Throttle-to-Elevator mix? Set it to add a little up elevator as it throttles up. I like mixes to really "dial in" a plane!

Best regards.

I stay away from computer radio mixes in this type of aeroplane. If it's correctly set up including balance (fore and aft as well as lateral) it's a joy to fly a la natural.Next time you are flying it at what you think is a safe height gently roll it over and stay inverted. It should just need the slightest amount of forward stick to maintain height, good luck mate

I agree. A recent plane build (not the Taylor Craft) had a problem. Power on and power off trim were not the same. In that instance, the plane would dive under power or if trimmed for power, the glide slope was too shallow and it would linger aloft and slow up too much. That problem could be solved by mixing down trim at lower throttle but with power on the aft edge of the elevator was trimmed up 1/4 inch. The mix worked fair but there was yet considerable canopy tuck in knife edge. I decided to adjust the stab to get the elevator neutral for power on and then see how the power off glide was.

The stab was on a tube so the forward stab pin was shimmed 3/64 down or reducing the stab incidence by probably less than a half degree doing so in 1/64 increments. At that point, the elevator was neutral for power flight and the landing glide slope ideal with no mixing and the severity of knife edge tucking was cleaned up.
