All done, new Boca Bearings, new Saito rings, new left intake pipe, new Saito mufflers, already had to .65 size TurboHeaders, two new spray bars, new LS needles, two new cams, newly painted cylinders, just for fun. In making the new throttle linkage I inserted two 3/16" drill bits into the carb venturi's, a perfect fit. The baffle between the carbs was removed for this, the carbs are in perfect sync, the carb's full travel does not use all of the ball, and socket joint motion available. That could have been a problem but I worked it out. All in all it was fun.

Well Old Fart, because of the abuse you gave me I changed my username. LOL. When I set this account originally I didn't know how much I would like it. So I just threw out my initials. Cycotravlr has been with me since my AOL days in the 90's.

Looks like you won then, that's way worse than psb i'll have to come up with a proper name for you like i did with acdc,i call him bruce just because i can plus i think he owns a saito 125 and lets face it,that's not an engine it's a handicap.Forgot to ask you if you have run the engine in the airframe and have you test flown it.If so what did it go and handle like? and what prop are you running on the fa91 i could'nt open your pics and look.
ps i might think a name up that sounds like your new handle just to make it easy))

Hey Pete you're hung up on Emu feces and 125 hatred, us 125 fans are leaving you in the dust.
You could call him RC-Cyco and he'd fit right in or make it a more poetic Saito Cyco.
PS, I pulled tractors at the Carroll County fair in the 70's, my cousins tractor with 427 Chevy.

Good evening Old Fart,
I have flown the Hog-Bipe with the Saito 91. I'd say that the 91 is a perfect engine for this aircraft, Flies Great! Rolls, Loops, and Knife Edge are as smooth as you could want. Although it doesn't get very good fuel mileage. Max 7 min. per flight on a 12oz tank. 13-6 Prop. This airplane has become my new Favorite airplane.
Cycotravlr came from a time way back when I was heavily into cycling, doing a lot of long distance. Thus (Cyco) distance; thus (Traveler). But back in the day AOL did not allow more than 10 characters for a user name. I dropped both the "e" and there you go. Cycotravlr.

Psb your stuck with that at the moment because i need some more time after you confessed to being one of those mobile chicanes with a pushbike. The upside for you is dan (sr telemaster) is probably in love with you already.I can think of a good use for dave's v8 tractor puller.
ps i use fa82's in small fully aerobatic arf's like high wing decathlons and mid wing extra 300's it's a lot of fun.Are you sure about the 13x6 on the 91? i run apc 14x6 on my 82's they pull around 9 on the ground and go vertical with ease.
pps if you are still cycling on the roads i'm putting you in the same class as the saito 125 fans here
Old Fart, I had an APC 14X6 on my Saito 91. Throttle management sucked. It seemed to pull the airplane fine. But RPM seemed to stay the same from just above 1/2 throttle to Full. The 16X6 allows me to have control throughout the full range. I'm Happy with it and it keeps on flying, so guess that's all that matters,
Good Day,
Good Day,

I don't fully understand that, a good Saito .91 should turn an APC 14x6 at 10,300 rpm minimum. The 16x6 at only 7,300 to 7,500, throttle, management should be much broader and quicker with the 14x6. Poor fuel economy on a Saito almost always the LS needle set too rich, it controls about 85% of the throttle range.
Hobbsy, now you got me going. I have felt that I should have more power. But this is my first 4 stroke and I didn't know what to expect. I guess I'm going to start asking more questions to the Saito community. It'll have to wait until the snow clears. Thanks for pointing me to a path that could be positive power planning.
Regards,
Regards,
Sounds like its sloppy rich. I have a Saito 100 in a Cub and it sucks fuel through a straw, 5 minutes is about it before I need to land, but it also has a small tank. It has very little run time on it, so will take a while to break in still. My 72 gets the most air time and is a great runner. It is broken in and well tuned, the 100 is not.
acdii, I'm knew to this 4 stroke thing and it seems that the vast majority of the Glow guys in my club fly 2 strokes. Once the snow clears, hahaha, I'll stake this baby to the ground and start over and Lean out the LS adjustment and then start with High speed. Let's see where that gets me.
Thank you for your suggestions.

Saito FA-91S
A test of the .91
Cyc, always set the LS needle with the HS needle at full peak, the needles effect each other but the HS needle has a fixed seat and doesn't change with throttle changes so set it first. Otherwise you'll end up chasing your tail.
AC, if you have 40 to 50 minutes on the 100 it is about as broken in as it's going to get.

Not sure what it has, but less than 40. It was new when I got it, the guy couldn't get it to stay running, Horizon "repaired" it, still couldnt get it running, paid $180 for it at a swap meet, put it in a P-51, spent 20 minutes trying to get it running, and realized the LSN was too rich. Took it out, adjusted the LSN to base setting, put it back together and it started on the first flip and ran good. Haven't touched it since. I got maybe 10 minutes in the P-51 before I HSS it into the ground, replaced the crank because it cracked on impact, put the 125 in the P-51 after repairs, and put the 100 in the Cub, have four 5 minute flights that I can recall.
Cyco i usually clown about here because i like to have fun with my hobby of flying models with saito engines in them, one of the reasons for using a fourstroke is that they sound better than a weedwacker. But,my enjoyment levels plummet when a saito is not performing well so i get serious when it comes to tuning. To make the point about lsn clearer look down the tiny hole and you'll see a small brass flathead screw.Turn that anticlockwise back out to nearly flush with the top of the housing and your now close to the factory setting. You CANNOT set the hsn properly at max rpm unless you do this first.Setting the lsn for transition and idle comes later. Both barry(blw) and dave(hobbsy) have posted well written and detailed explanations of how this is done properly and you should read them.It saves a lot of time and cursing on your part.Once you understand the principle it's very easy to do.
ps once you get all that down pat your engine will go off song at the next flying session so you play with the needles right?? wrong.Start looking at fuel and crankcase vent lines for pinches/cracks/pinholes and other things.Once the engine is well tuned it rarely needs adjustment.
pps if you still ride a pushbike on the road i'm going to take all this back..

Well i just have a couple things to give my opinion on.
Great throttle hook up.
The saito 91 likes a 14X6. I say that because I truly believe that some of us are over proping are engine’s. We need to let them breath. Now do mistake that with the bigger engine’s. Anything over 30cc.
