Lonnie

Found them
https://www.zyhobby.com/collections/others-456/2.html

Some very nice work going on here.

Lonnie, my 60-t has two different style cylinders on it, one is ABC, the other is AAC, Gary sent a new cylinder with it as the left cylinder was split across the valve seats.

Ooops, wrong shop, I got mine at Valley View: https://www.valleyviewrc.com/accessories/cooling-vents
Thanks. Was thinking of cutting single rows from one of those and glassing them for strength. Much easier than starting from scratch when making screw-on air dams. Something I've been thinking about more often now that I'm converting a few 60 size planes to FG engines.

Putting 2&2 together I'm thinking the AAC cylinder. It looks new and Gary said he sent one to Dave that he had bought new, cheap.

Looking back, Dave is right, it was a lefty. Bought from Mac Gregors in UK. I picjked up Dave's engine in a swap, Saw only some JB weld and automatically bought a replacement cylinder while I still could. Glad too! The cylinder was toast.

The replacement is the AAC on the right,, the left is the ABC with the bronze valve seats.

Hey GaryJust picked up tube to bend at 696 and lost yer phone number. Have a zero on skis with me (naturally). Lol Check this out! Tried to kink it to fit in the bed of the truck and ended up with a radius almost as tight as I need for the exhaust ring! Literally did not kink, caused a minor buckle raises on the compression side. Bright, shiny and smooth in the stretch side.
Th

Ohhh yaaah
Thirty bucks, but I could make about fifteen rings with it lol

If he had been a R?C flier I'm sure he would have been. He was a 37 year A&P that started on DC-3s and retired when the 777 cane out.

Aaron, you and I need to make pact to never show up at the same place at the same. Some sort of weird bad luck wormhole would open up and swallow bystanders. Lol

Like the guy in the twilight zone episode that broke his spectacles on the steps of his beloved library. After the distractions disappeared. Thad be us. Squinting with only ourselves to talk to.
Hmm
Better get back on topic before the luck runs out.
I would be very curious what the head temps will run on the nicely cowled/ baffled corsair you are fixing to roll out AC. The fixture looks to be an advantage in functionality and looks. Be super cool to monitor and log if possible with your radio. The on the ground and in flight would really be interesting. I run all mine uncovered to date. My Taranis is glitchy monitoring more than two cylinders.
Sure be cool to know what they do in flight.
The sound of the triples is just plain awesome, can't wait to see the maiden on film soon...
Your work on this plane is striking.
It's gonna be a good day when it graces the sky with your mates looking on!

I love the triples but I don't see me ever owning one.

Aaron, is that a Leer cap with contractors side windows on your Goat, I am picking up a Leer for my F 150 long bed pickem up in a couple weeks. I am leaning toward the 8" higher than the cab model, but may settle for the 3"' above the cab if it will make it too high for car washes. It's going to be about 2,200 bucks in Agate Black.

You guys make me want another triple, there are a couple of 450's available, not doable at this time. I had a 90 and then a 120 and sold both.

I see the radiology guy at 10 this am to discuss radiation treatments.
Most of you have seen my 60-t with the Saito 30-s mufflers adapted to it.

Turning at 6,000 rpm.

Morning
Hope you got sleep before the appointment. God be with you and the doctor this morning! Expect the best today.
The cap is a ranch king, it was the only cap that worked on the 2013. The tailgate was radiused so the closure lip in it was different from others and nobody was making a fit but them at the time Been an ok cap, was not expensive and has met my abusive needs of the work vehicle. Doubles nicely as a "camp Hubbard" at time when roaming ( I guess walkabout ) by our down under buddy may say....
I saw that 450 for sale. 800 if memory serves. Not bad. I gave 800 for one nib. I generally favor fives and sevens. The sound of the triples is just siren to me. The lope is so sweet. The fives and sevens get progressively " smoother" sound wise as cylinders are added. Imho
The lope is similar to my v twin ohv s.
I am saving for another Moki five cyl 180. My radials are not impressive power to weight ( my opinion).
For whatever reason, the mantra dr G ( the USA distributor) uses is if a Moki fits in the cowl, it will fly the plane. I have yet to test that. But videos don't lie. Seen some big heavy loaded airframes streak by with 180s .
My 250 seven won't be cowled on its PT 17 mount.
It's huge overkill for the 35 pound plane anyway.
And takes A big hour to assemble at the field.
A quarter scale will fit assembled in the truck.
Big utility.

Brought the tube in from the cold 15 degree air and put the forming tool on it. The ring shown is from my Siedel 77. With a little heat I think this is 100% doable. Maybe the true challenge will be the inverts creation and placement permanently within the ring. Might be possible to wire weld this stuff. I am terrible with silver solder and brazing. But I think I will have to get better. Lol

I'm not happy with the covering job but at this point I don't want to tear it off and redo it. I want to see if she flies first.
