Hello again. I'm having one heck of a time trying to find a 2 1/4" spinner (aluminum or nylon) for a Saito 91. There are a lot of spinners out there, but I want to be able to use a lock nut and most of the adapters don't have them. By the way, is the thread size on the shaft 5/16-24 or metric? Anyway, what spinners are you guys using on your 91s?

Ed............sorry about your near vision problem. Have you investigated laser eye vision correction ?. One time I was told that lazer eye correction is only good if you're short sighted. Other option would be eye-contact lenses. I hear that nowadays they have bi-focal contact lenses. I hope you'll find somebody to help you put your ARFs together. Sorry, I live in Canada.

Tru Turn and Dave Brown both have 2.25" spinners that will work on your .91.

Birman................when I built my Waco YMF 3 1/6TH I installed the Saito .91, I needed some nose weight. Instead of a spinner I used one of Harry Higleys hubs plus a lock nut. See picture. Looks neat and scale. Just an idea to think about. Good luck.

Birm.........................RVM suggestion is good too. I have a Dave Brown 3" spinner on my Saito 1.20 CG Ultimate 10-300. Nicely machined and reasonably priced. See pic. attached.

Birman ..................the thread shaft on the Saito .91S is 7mmX1, similar to the Saito .72. Check the specs on the manual.

I haven't been matriculating as I should have been in the local clubs. I'm sure there is someone to do the deed(s). There are lots of really accomplished builders in this area (fliers too). I just have to get out more. Now to get those membership apps filled out and in the mail. It's March already! <G>

Go here and look at the Prop Locks. I use a Dave Brown 2.25 aluminum spinner, with his recommended adapter nut, with one of these prop locks. The Prop Lock works both as the first nut and as the prop washer. It is an arrangement that has worked for me on both a .82 and, with a DuBro spinner nut, on a .91. I think there is a listing of prop-shaft sizes and thread-pitches available at this site also.

Some concern has been expressed by other members of this forum about the possible propensity for the threads in the Prop Lock to strip because of the thinness of the Prop Locks. That has never happened to me with either the aluminum or brass Prop Locks.

Enjoy your .91, they are nice engines.

Larry, check out these Kavan back plateless spinners, they serve as the front prop washer and your stock nut and locknut fit right inside the nose and the rubber cap hides them. This one is on my Saito .62

You are correct. To get the aluminum finish on top of the fins, you have to take off the anodizing by filing or machining. I think it would look good. I may fix one up to see what it looks like.

Hobbsy, the backplateless spinner is real interesting. I am trying to figure out how it is fastened to the drive shaft. Could you post some pics of the spinner assembly parts, when it is convenient to you? Thanks!

Thanks for the info on the Kavan spinner Dave. Wouldn't you know it though, they don't have a 2 1/4" in stock.

Those are nice looking spinners.

Great Planes makes the plastic spinners with aluminum back plates in the popular sizes. That's what I've been using lately. I'm going to buy a Kavan spinner and try it out.

carry some parts for the fa65...of which some are interchangable from newer models. toll free number for support too...most cool.

Hi guys,
Anyone know of a good aluminum(solid) mount for a 125. I love it but it is beginning to shake my Cox WACO a bit more than I like. Starting to have some servo problems. ARF's - don't you just love 'um?
Also, how do I join club saito - I've got 2 -91's an old 120 and a new 125 - wouldn't have anything else.

I think an aluminum mount would shake your Waco even more than a glass-filled nylon, if that's what you are using. I'm very fond of the adjustable Great Planes mounts.
