Hi!
There isn't such a thing as a rule to this...just run it rich if it's ringed and fairly fast if it's an ABC engine! that's it!
2 1/2 -3turns open is just a start.

Back in the FSR era there were only two types of engine you could get, ringed or cast iron. Everyone knew that for either of them you just ran them slobbering rich at first and the only danger was a needle that wasn't open enough. 
Personally I like to start a new engine with the needle screwed out maybe 3 or 4 turns and the throttle opened enough not to have to worry about idle mix.

so im getting runum RICH! anyone have the mounting dimensions or a link to some drawings specs ect ( .40 FSR ) for my engine is out for repair and i want to get this mount tapped.
