YS 110 Quits at idle
I purchased a YS 110 with a recient plane and it runs wonderful everywhere except low idle. Its like it is either losing its spark or drawing air from SOMEWHERE. All other setting are flawless. Its a little touchier than my other YS 120-140's like it may be drawing a slight amount of air from somewhere but is easily adjusted at top end. I run cool power 30% heli in all my 4 strokers so its not a fuel issue. Took all my nipples off and checked for any small trash or restrictions tonight and alls clear. I did change the plug as a long shot thinking it may be sucking air through there and will test again tomorrow. Been fighting this for a while now and its getting close to being sent off. I've run mant different tanks with the same results. Even had a YS guy look at it at a contest and he couldn't adjust it out either. The low needle has to be all the way screwed in for the best possible run at idle, but it still quits.
HELP,
Jamie

The low speed needle screwed all the way in (rich) is the indicator for a lean
running engine....most likely an air leak. Seal up the air-box with some
"Gasket Cinch". It is a liquid rubber sealer, that is sometimes called a
"contact sealer" (rubber cement).
You can use the same gaskets, sealed with the Gasket Cinch.

I had the same sympton, and YS told me the same thing about air leak. Yeah right. This occurs on too many users, especially for new YS 110 engines.
Later I was advised to opened the regulator screws to 3-turns open from fully closed. That solved all the problems, and where is the air leak?

Your advice was right on. I HAD this problem with my latest new 110 and after reading your post, I checked and adjusted the regulator to 3 turns out from closed. It was at about 1 1/2 turns out before changing. I re-set the high and low speed needles to 1 1/2 turns out and my 110 fired right up and ran beautifully for 8-10 flights today. The only adjustments made from the above is that I richened the high speed by 2 clicks and leaned the low by about 1/8 turn.
This advice saved me a ton of headaches as there is little or no good information from YS that I have seen on dialing in the regulator setting.
Thanks again! Happy flying!
