I just reinstalled an OS 1.08 2 stroke in my Spitfire (inverted engine) and it starts, runs fine with the glow igniter, and for about 30 seconds after removing the igniter. It then just dies right down without "loading up." Yes, I did try a new glow plug. I can't tell if the engine is getting too much fuel and drowning plug or is not getting enough. When I restart, all I have to do is tweak the nose cone backward and it fires right up and runs normally (until I take the heat off.)
This engine has an oddball low-end adjustor screw that operates a cam lever. It seems to accelerate normally without stumbling or cutting off. One more thing, the high speed needle is only open less than one turn (about 3/4) and it seems like it should be more than that. I did get it to make one pass around the field, but it cut off in a Cuban 8 and glided back dead stick. Any help or hints with this would be greatly appreciated! Feel free to email me.

The OS 7D carb on the 108 has an extremely narrow low end range of adjustment so only move it a hair at a time if necessary. Also try an OS #8 plug or better yet an Enya #3 which is a bit hotter. Also this engine eems to prefer 15% Nitro or lower. I wonder if richening up your high and low end might offer a solution.

The engine slowing down when glo heat is removed
is usually an indication of either too rich a
mixture or not enough nitro or possibly too
cold a glo plug. Also have you tried starting
the engine with the plane inverted so the engine
is upright? If the behavior of the engine changes
then it could indicate a tank height issue...
Just something else to try.
Good luck Sam

THANKS! (TO ALL WHO RESPONDED). Problem was solved by leaning out low end. Now sits there idling with no attempt to cut off. The glow plug was drowning.
