An OS .46 SF. The absolute best engine I have ever owned. I bought the engine second-handed about 11-12 year ago; still running strong. It probably has had 15-20 gallons of fuel put through it since I have owned it.

HB 40 (non PDP)
I remember in 1982 I had my first RC trainer, a sig kadet with a real dog of an engine (brand will remain nameless) which I could not get to run well. I wasted several training sessions until finally dad took me to the hobby shop to get a new engine. I really wanted an OS, but the hobby shop was out and recommended the HB. I was very discouraged, but we bought it. What an awesome, powerful and user friendly engine! Now the training could finally begin and I soloed that summer.
I still have it 21 years later and it still runs pretty strong even with tons of hours. Only complaint is it is a big engine, and takes a .60 size mount.

I gota say the o.s. 46 fx. It is about 2 years old. I have ramed it full throttle into the cement several times, never replaced a part and it still runs every time with one flip of the chicken stick. It just refuses to die.

Skypupmut,
Me too on the Veco .19. Yes, not a great throttle but what I did was to install the throttle from a Sportster .25 along with its muffler. Throttling is now virtually perfect and the engine is real quiet to boot with lots of power. Second flip starts, power to weight to rival any ABC motor. Great motor if you like small planes.

we have many, many engines, most of them good. we take great care how we run them in, tune, clean and after run them so mostly we don't have any bad engines either, but for us the engines that stand out for great service, reliability, quality and power is our Rossi's with the 53's our favorite.

Hello; I think that I would have to say that my current favorite is my Laser 100. Easy starts, low, low idle, near silence in the air, never stalls, lots of pull with a big prop (15x8) all in all a great asset to the flying experience. Great satisfaction.

For the daily use: OS 46 FX. Start without problems in winter and in summer, with always perfect carburation. Never a problem and all the power that you needs. For the pleasure: Saito four times twin for the perfection of the mechanics, the rifiniture and above all the sound.

I used to have a great engine which replaced my Veco 19.
It was a Taipan 20 Gold Top
I seem to remember it being the first schneurle ported 3.5cc engine, but I could be wrong.

I have a NIB/Never run Abitar 120 for sale with spares (first one lost to a mid air collision). The first one ran great and had a very distinctive sound.
Make me a reasonable offer.

My all time favorite is the OS 40sf. Mine is about 15 years old and has never had a part replaced except for o-rings and gaskets. Fires up on the first flip every time and I do mean everytime. It is an ultra reliable engine and that makes it such a pleasure to run. Still pulls a 4.5lb plane like it did 10 years ago. All other sf engines are some of the best OS has ever produced IMO.

From: Gabs,
Webra 40, Webra 60, Super Tigre G90, Super Tigre 20/23.
All very reliable and lasting. Each has over 100 hours on the clock
and still running strong.
Next I would put , Super Tigre 3250 and 4500.
Then Hungarian Moki, Czek MVVS and finally after looonger space all asian staff including OS (except for OS 120FS & OS160FX). Rice cultivation and production of rusting cars is their stronger asset.

I'll have to agree with LF! I think the YS 53 & 63 are my favorites. I just pull the plane out, fuel it and fly! No adjusting , tinkering, fiddling or tightening. These have been the most trouble free in my inventory.

I bought the first big block 36 that Henery Nelson produced about 10 years ago. It just keeps on going. the only parts that I have replaced has been bearings and glo plugs. I have lost count of how many times that I have won Slo-Rat at the AMA Nats with that engine.

My favorite would be the Dooling .61 my dad used to very briefly hold the u/c speed record with in the late 40's. It's everything I always thought a racing engine should be!

OK Cub .049b- my first engine, followed by a fox .29 my first "big" engine. I still have the Fox but the cub flew away to free flight heaven many years ago.
More recent standouts are a Super Tigre G60 Blue head which is Italy non-demanding. Another favorite is the OS 1.08 I have on my Lazy Ace. It is the old one without that stupid remote.NV. It almost never fails to start on the first flip, Just turn it over once to feel the "bump" then give it a flip. I don't use a chicken stick, it feels too awkward. Maybe it is a sign of my age, I fiddled with these things for many years before starters & chicken sticks came along.

K&B Greenhead .35 from my C/L years. Hours of slow combat with that engine and MANY FliteStreaks. Talk about taking abuse!! I have no idea how many times I buried that engine trying to keep that streamer intact.

My all time favorite has to be the MDS .68 (original carb). This engine has 5 years on it, over 200 hours, and continues to run without a hiccup. Only 1 deadstick caused by unbalanced spinner which caused the needle valve to vibrate loose and fall off. Bearings are original and won't be replaced when I install a new liner and piston next flying season.
Oh,did I mention the engine is easy to tune, user friendly, decent power, and only cost 99 bucks new! It has outlasted 3 airplanes......

For gas, my favorite is the Rotax 503, no better gasser ever made. I liked mine so much I bought another and now I have 2.
For glow, I'd say my old OS .61 fsr was my favorite. I still have pieces of the crankcase in a box here in my apt. If it weren't for the too-small bearings, my 1.40rx would have been my next favorite because it ran so well during its very short life. I'd also like to claim my 1.60fx, but it's still NIB awaiting an airplane so no running data on it yet....
