Default installation of perry pump

I just picked up a Perry V30 pump to use with my OS 4-stroke and the instructions only apply to two strokes. For the two stroke it says to tap the crankcase and install the nipple, place the pump as close to the carb as possible. Has anyone installed this for a 4-stroke? Do you have to do the same thing or do you run it off the muffler pressure?

Here's my setup:

Engine: OS 91FSII Surpass 4 stroke

Stock Muffler

Gas tank: Simple two line (one from the muffler to tank for pressure, and one line going to carb which is split with a dubro kwik filler – the one when you push in the filler it blocks flow to the carb and opens flow into the tank).

Thx

David

Take the pump back and get the oscillating pump. The V30 requires positive and negative pulses to drive the diaphragm in the pump. Your muffler pressure will not do this.

Ok thanks. I had emailed Gary Conley and he's the one that said this is the pump I should use. But I've emailed him twice about the installation process and he hasn't responded

Hi!
Why do you want to run a fuelpump?
Most engines and most fueltank set-ups work perfectly without one...

Regards!

The micro-oscillating pump works wonderfully on the 4-strokes. I used one for several years on a Saito .80. You get spoiled having an installation that allows you to set the needle and never worry about the engine going lean.

There were a few threads awhile back about using the V30 w/a 4 stroke...A Saito 100 I believe, and it was made to work successfully. Do a search, and you should find it, I think Azcat59 was one of the guys(?) there were at least a couple of guys who did it Good luck!

My suggestion with the Perry pumps is to mount them away from the vibration of the engine. Your pump will last longer if it is mounted to the side of the airframe or directly to the firewall. I had some pre-mature failures with the pumps attached the backplate screw of the large 2-cycles. FWIW - don't mount it directly off of the engine.
