Default Help, ASP FS 61 AR muffler problem

I´ve just got a new ASP FS 61 AR. Unfortunately, the muffler manifold angle is not large enough to get the muffler under der cowl. I do not know if ASP sells any different muffler manifolds. Could I use Saito exhaust accessories?

Even more, both (!) muffler nuts provided in the box are scrap metal. The screw thread has not been cut right-angled into the nut. Thus, these nuts would never do their job soundly. Do Saito muffler nuts fit onto ASP engines?

(...asked if I would buy another ASP FS 61 AR I would answere "no".)

Most of the ASP are the same as OS

Don´t laugh but I got the engine from Just Engines.

I could try to bend the stock muffler manifold but I have to change the nuts anyway.

Just Engines is usually very good about standing behind their sales.

Email Jenny about your problem

Maybe one of these would allow to cowl your engine

...I got the new manifold and ran the engine at the weekend for the first time.

Holy cow! Is it normal that ASP 61 FS engines are vibrating that much? I rechecked in Youtube and is seems to be normal.

The cylinder head is vibrating to the left and right a quarter inch, alomst. Ok, the engine mount I use is rather soft but helps to protect the plane. After 30min break in I noticed some reduction but still...

Otherwise, the engine started easily by hand and I had no problems to adjust the needles (running on Coolpower 5%, O.S. F and 12x6 APC). The engine has lots of power too. And the sound! I realy like the sound of the engine. My little O.S. 30 FS does not come close to the ASP 61 FS.

But how could I get rid of the vibration? Should I use a glas filled engine mount? Now, the engine is screwed on wooden bearers.

A soft mount will let allow any engine to move (vibrate) A hard mount fibreglass or aluminum should solve the issue assuming of course a balanced prop martin
i have had no issues using both on 2 and 4 strk or diesels martin\\

They do make an iso mount which are rubber bushings with bolts to secure the hard mount to the fire wall which works Davis Model products in the US sells then very easy to
install understand they work well
