RE: WACO YMF
Stickbuilder,
Anyone having a good time? Looks like the interest in the YMF thread is dwindling.
Bill,
The short answer is yes.
The long answer is: This forum started on March 20, 2006. The forum has now moved into its 6th year of existence. Your question – Anyone having a good time… is question number 12738. You have 204 members of the brotherhood which includes two deceased members and 8 lady members. The forum is dedicated to building and rebuilding the PICA 1/5th scale Waco YMF 3 or 5. The forum has entertained questions about Waco ARF’s, 33% Waco’s, Barth, ¼ scale, full size Waco, digitizing pica drawings, digitizing drawings into AutoCad, Posting additional information on the http://houseofmoy\waco, how to pronounce WACO, 2 discussions about commercializing the building process, nitro engines, gas engines, gas engine starting, adjustable horizontal elevator, p factor, covering, 2 heart operations, landing gear, landing gear with a spring strut, flying, and other pages related to how to get a PICA Waco into the air.
The bulk of the knowledge was accumulated between the beginning of the forum and approximately the end of 2009. The forum has information that available for anyone to review. Now new members are adding layers to the forum. For example ACERC is showing us how he added pinking tape to his model. I indexed the forum pages at http:// goo.gl/ny7jx
I am not able to speak for the other members of this forum but I think the answer is yes. I am having fun. I hope everyone else is too.

Hi Bill,
"Anyone having a good time"
I haven't posted that much lately, but I'll tell you I'm in here every night right after I check out the goings ons in the other thread I active in. As a matter of fact if my Waco survives the season I'm going to do a recovering job, along with some other modifications, or pull the kit out of the rafters and go for it
SO SPEAKING FOR MYSELF,
YES, I'M HAVING A VERY GOOD TIME, AND ITS GOOD TO HAVE YOU BACK.

Been a very long time since my last post, at least I keep up on reading the posting. Master Chief (Bill) you need to take better care of thee ole' ticker need you to stay around. Since us ole Navy guys are short on demand. To get back to the topic are we having fun yet? At least every chance I get to fire up my 1/5scale HPI Baja 5B, and burn up the trinches. As far as the 1/6scale Waco I haven't been able to get it finished yet, but hopefully I can get back to it and finish it. I bought one of those little Waco's from Hobby Lobby for an electric it isn't to bad for a foam modeled plane.
Later for now

RE: WACO YMF
Are we having fun? My UPF has movie cam installed, and the downloaded movies are on my computer at work, just for those 'slow times' at work when I will go for a run around the local flying field...plans are afoot to draw a 1/4 YMF so it has some company...oh yes, we are having fun, and it is good to see that the Service Bulletin has done you no harm Stickbuilder, we missed you while you were away...

Sad to throw out some sad news but our Brother #128 Irayj, Lonnie Johnson lost his wife yesterday to cancer. Don't really know how to convey to him how we all feel other than they're both in our thoughts. Mitch

I just spoke with Lonnie. Pat will be at the Hendersonville Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, Hendersonville Tennessee 37075. Visitation will be Tuesday 7 June 2011 from 4pm until 8pm. Cremation Funeral services will be held on Wednesday 8 June, 2011. I'm sure that the entire Brotherhood joins me in sending Lonnie and his family our deepest condolences, and our friendship to them. I will be there. If anyone else wants to attend, and needs a place to stay, let me know. I understand that there are distances involved, but please share your thoughts with Lonnie via Private Message.
Thanks

everyone seems to be having a goo time with their own work in progress. when you went in for your proceedure i believe we all took a deep breath and waited to see how you came out. when it comes to matters of the heart, as yours, most of us need to pay attention. i for one know, i'm not too far behind you and need to pay attention. maybe it was the years in the navy and those steel decks along with those hidden moments of stress that appeared from nowhere.

Robert,
Just a little heads up, from my past experiences with working with ply to simulate panels you must really seal the wood and primer and sand to hide the wood grain. I did the same treatment to my 25% Pepio Waco and the ply took alot of sealing to get the desired effect. I noticed you already added your rivet detail and you may find that finishing the wood will be a chore with the rivets in place.
(edit: ) I just noticed you removed the rivets
Not trying to burst your bubble just wanted to let you know what I ran into using the ply.

WacoNut, Thank,s for the heads up. Just did a test run of poly primer/sealer this morning, seems two sprayed on coats fills it nicely. And no sanding required with it.
Dan , Thank,s, working on it.
Soon to be a two WACO town.

Ok, Found something else to do. Put the snap's on the front cover. Now how about a little interactive poll.
First three vote's is the way I'll go. Question, Leave them silver or paint them black. It' up to you guy's.

Silver it is. Thank's guy's.
Jim, they are regular straight pins with a 1/16 head.
I have three sizes in my collection. The head,s are 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32.

RE: WACO YMF
If you are using regular sewing pins, why paint ? their normal original color is the same as the color of the snaps. You may want to add a little brown or rust color to simulate rust which would be normal on an old airplane.
