To all, For what its worth. If looking for soft tubing try Spruce Aircraft they have fuel line in 1/8 in. aluminum its light in weight and very workable.

RE: WACO YMF
Tmac - thanks for the fuel line feedback. Had some fun working on the first side and have all the parts for the 2nd side prepped and painted. Hopefully will run the lines and finish the install this evening. Then on to the pilot mirros and cockpit details.
For the fuel lines I picked up some soft alloy line at JoAnne's craft store. I'm on the west coast and don't know if they have one in your area. It comes in a roll and is super lightweight and very plyable. It also fits well with the other servo push rod material. It is solid line and not hollow so not sure if it would serve your goal for hiding wires. Great idea though. I am running aileron rods on my Waco that are functional so I am using only 2 servos in the bottom wings to save weight with the 1/5 scale. I am runnin g 168 oz servos so they have plenty of torque to handle both top and bottom wings etc.
Good luck with your wire project and great news regarding your angiogram!

Wacodream, the fuel lines look really great, is the soft alloy that you used hollow? I need to fabricate something like what you have done to hide the servo wires from the top wing. I have tried some alloy tubing but it was too firm to do any nice bends.
. To all, had my angiogram today and given the all clear.

WacoDream ( I have to say it,sounds like what I had as a young boy ) Thank you for your reply, I need hollow tubing and thanks to ceije I have ordered some from Spruce Aircraft. Had A little giggle about your statement of whether or not JoAnne's craft store is in my area or not, I live in AUSTRALIA. Once again thanks for your interest and keep up the excellent work on your build.
Regards tmac.

RE: WACO YMF
Tmac - Aha! Australia. OK. Perhaps the JoAnne's website might be a resource for you should you need various parts for your project. Glad you were able to get a solution with the hollow tuning. Sounds like a good plan to work with Aircraft Spruce. I looked at getting some 1/8" fuel line fittings as well for my 33% Barth Waco I am planning. Lonnie shared with me about AS as a possible solution and his fuel system on his AMR 33% Waco came out incredibly nice. He did share with me that he got docked at Top Gun as the parts were slightly too big for 33% scale but for all intents and purposes they looked amazing to me. I have pondered the 1/5 scale version for weeks and am pleased with the way mine are coming out. Definitely 'stand off scale' . . . but in the ballpark in terms of general look and feel and for my purposes they work just fine. Good luck with your project and hope to see some pictures once you finish your system,
RE: WACO YMF
My Lipos arrived for the Waco and I'm getting excited to start flying. I am running a Steve Nue motor 1515 2Y 1100 KV with 6.7:1 gearbox and a Castle 85HV ESC. I will experiment with 8S, 9S and 10S configurations to determine the best weight to power ratio. The packs are 5000 mAh so hoping for 8 - 10 min flight times. Running a 20X10 wood prop. Xoar makes an electric wood prop that looks good and should perform well. Might get some ambition to try detailing it like Anthony did.

If you show up at Top Gun, you'd best have all your crap in one sock. It is the great leveler. Lonnie did great for his first trip. Shame he didn't come back for seconds this year.

Nope. One of his phone numbers is not good any longer and he does not answer the other one. Last time we talked he said that he was moving to East Tennessee (south of Knoxville) but that was a while ago. Haven't heard a peep from him since.

tmac, when you receive your fittings please let me know if the 1/8 size will work on the 1/4 scale Waco, since Spruce Aircraft is for full size aircraft I was a little reluctant to go that far with the purchase.

ceije, not a problem. I will be using the 3/16 on my 1/3 scale because I need to run the servo wires through them, they may be larger than scale but I do not know the diameter of the full scale lines anyway. As long as it looks ok to my eye that is all that matters to me. It will certainly look better than bare servo leeds. I do agree with you about the fittings though, will be interested as to how they look, may be too bulky, we will see.

RE: WACO YMF
I emailed back and forth with Lonni a bit asking questions about his amazing build. He was very generous with me sharing details and gave me some vendor tips. Havn't spoke with him for a couple months though. Would be great to see him back on the thread.

Bill,
Have you heard from Lonnie? He hasn't been on here in a while.
Later!!

Hi Chris,
Here are some photos of Lonnie's fuel system with 1/8 fittings. This is how they look on a 33% Waco.

RE: WACO YMF
WacoDream, They look ok to me. I'm trying to fabricate the front windscreen at the moment and was impressed with Lonnie's rendition. Do you know what size hinge material he used. I have made a rough start on one half with 13 mil hinges but it does look a little on the small side. Also did Lonnie run his servo wires through the fuel line,I assume that the tubing is 1/8 also?
Regards tmac
Regards tmac
RE: WACO YMF
Good questions Tmac. Not sure about hing sizes or specifics on Lonnie's Waco. Sorry. I assume he ran his wires through the tubing as I can't see the wires and I know he flew his Waco at Top Gun. These are pics from when he was there etc. Perhaps others on the forum know. He shared soem photos from his build in the forum - back a few hundred pages perhaps . . . and you can also find them in the gallery section. I saved them for reference for my projects as his build was so nice.
RE: WACO YMF
Nice Tmac. Good to see the quality of the Barth build. Really nice job. I'm planning the same 33% Barth build next - after I finish my 1/5 scale. Did you make the rear windshield? Great job on that btw. I received a picture from Gotz Vogelsang / Team Aeroscale on the Barth kit components. Can't quite tell if the windshield is of the same material as the one you made. The rivits and screw detail is very nice on yours. Would love to understand your build strategy on that. Thanks Tmac!
