The 6g gyro (micro), one wire with a plug. Last night I hooked it up that way and it still doesn't work. I'm going to get a test light today and make sure power is being supplied to the ESC (sub par soldering).

What doesn't work? The whole heli doesn't power up, the tail doesn't spin, or the gyro doesn't hold a heading.

I couldn't find any instruction manuals on the internet, so I'm going from the instructions on my Eflite G90 gyro manual. In the picture below, connection A is not used. The gyro will be in Heading Hold mode and you use the gain "screw" on the gyro to increase or decrease gain. (note: some gyros don't work this way and must be plugged into channel 5 which must be adjustable, the stock Axe radio can't be used then) Connection B goes to channel 4 on your receiver. Connection C is where your ESC will plug into. BUT, be sure and disable the "BEC" feature by removing the red wire and covering it with heatshrink or electrical tape. You don't want power going through the gyro to the recceiver. Finally, you need to spit the power from your battery to go to both ESCs. One on the main motor, and one on the tail.

Does anyone know (not guess, please) the correct angle for the tail rotor relative to the plane of the main rotors? It seems the factory axe cp's have the tail rotor twisted slightly to the right, viewed with the nose pointed away. Is there any reason to set the tail rotor angle other that at 90 degrees to the plane of the main rotors? Thanks for any info.

I hope the weight of the tail mod will balance out my heli. I'm using an Electrifly 1500mah lipo. 1 oz. heavier than the stock battery not to mention it sticks out the front about 3 inches.

I won't guess and I don't know, but I can tell you what happens. On most helis, the tail rotor should be perpendicular to the ground (or main rotor plane). As viewed from the rear, some helis tend to hover with the right side (starboard) tilted slightly down. Having the tail rotor tilted a couple degrees to the left can help to straighten it out. Other helis are tail heavy and having the tail rotor tilted a couple degrees to the right will lift the tail a tiny bit so you don't need as much forward trim to stop it from drifting backward.
If your heli is perfectly balanced (ideally they all would be), you normally want the rotor perpendicular so the heli won't drift forward or backward.

Quick Question. Does the 3-n-1 stock gyro on the AXE have any effect on the heli after installing the Telebee Gyro?

Turning the gyro gain down on the 3-n-1 effectively disables it. Now I have heard of instances where people have had to have a bit of gain on the stock gyro for the upgraded gyro to get a signal. I used a GY240 and did not have to fiddle with adding gain from the stock gyro.

Nice vids. How long have you been flying? Also what motor are you using, It sounds more aggressive than the esky motor i'm using. I never thought getting Don (rosella) to come out with the Axe freestyle tail would affect so many people. Kinda cool.

Thank you. I got my start in flying about 2 years ago with a $60 plane that turned out to be an epic failure lol. After my plane lost all ability to fly, I flew on occasion using my brother's plane. I got into helis around November of last year. I decided to put some money into it, so I got an axe cp (big spender, I know lol). Right around January, I got tired of the stock tail motor due to the fact that I burned through three of them by that time and I decided to look into this belt-drive deal that I had been hearing so much about. I ordered the kit from freestyle-hobby soon after that. It took forever to get here, but I'd say it was well worth the wait. Now apart from my all-metal head, I tried to go with the cheapest set up I could find from helidirect. I'm using a 300HDX 4200Kv brushless motor along with a Dynam 25A brushless esc. I don't think I've ever seen any pilot post that as their setup. Must not be something to brag about I guess lol. Yes my motor is pretty aggressive but I think it's too agressive because it's overdrawing, causing crazy overheating that only now is taking it's toll lol. I'm not sure wether or not I was running on hard timing before but tonight I made sure that I switched to soft timing, so granted it's not windy in the morning, I'm gona see if I still have a battery or not. Hopefully nothing catches on fire or explodes haha. Anyway, I hope that fixes the problem and maybe I'll get a few more flights out of that battery.

As long as it's not puffed and is has around 3volts per cell you should be ok. Does the stock pinion fit that motor and if not what pinion are you using?

No it pretty much swells up like a hot balloon after every flight. It only started doing that recently though. I've been using it for a few months. As for the voltage, I don't have anything that can read the volts per cell. Yes I am using the stock pinion gear. I tried using other smaller ones, but they just ended up tearing up my main gear because the mesh wasn't quite right. I suppose going down one or two teeth below the stock pinion wouln't cause much of an issue though.

Yeah your either going to have to gear down or go with a higher C rating on your battery. What battery are you using? Also what are your pitch ranges? Too much pitch can cause higher amp draw on the battery also.

Yea I'm actually getting ready to buy a 20 C battery. I had a hunch it would help. Well I guess a higher continuous discharge makes sense. Currently I am using an 11.1v Mega Power 3s Li-Po 15C @ 1350mAh. I don't have a pitch gauge, but I've been meaning to get one.

Try pushing the throttle higher. Seriously, The tail rotor won't start spinning until you reach a certain rpm on the main rotor.

If pushing the throttle higher doesn't work check your connections

Do you have, or have access to, a DMM or an Oscilloscope?

Check to see if you're getting power to the motor before buying one.

You can get a DMM for about the price of a tail motor.

Besides, if your serious about getting into electric powered RC, you should have one in your "tool box" anyway.

Since u are convinced it doesn't work one last thing u can do is to hook up your battery directly to the motor leads. Be careful when u do this though cuz if u leave it plugged in too long (like over 5sec) and the motor actually spins, you will burn it out for sure. I wouldn't do it more than once. If u get no response then it's your motor for sure. If ur Axe is new, and buying a new motor doesn't help, u can actually call support and they'll have u send it back. When I did this, they sent me a brand new one.

Hey everyone I had neglected my axe for a while after i stepped up to the e-flite blade 400, i must say that it is a very nice heli for the price. But the motor burnt out so i had to send it back to be replaced for free, horizon hobbies is good for that. I just flew the axe again becasue i was having heli withdrawals, but the motor gets very hot and sparks on occasion. Other than that i have to say i actually flew pretty good, i used to think it sucked but i guess i just sucked at the time. I was wondering if anyone knows what size brushless motor should be used in this heli.
