HS-55 Servo Upgrade
Just got the new CNC blade grips in and also put in 3 new HS-55 servos. As far as the CNC grips go I can't really tell a difference other than no real chance or breaking the balls off. The new servos made a world of difference it's like a whole new Heli. I was able to hover for almost the whole stock battery before I could not hover at all although I did spend some time on FMS during the down time. The 55's are a must upgrade very easy to install using the stock arms although it is a tight fit and level the swash plate per the instructions and you are ready to go.

RE: HS-55 Servo Upgrade
Wow, so your saying your OE servos were so twitchy that the heli wouldn't hover. Weird. Others have mentioned servo problems as well, but my heli is as smooth as could be. I wonder what's going on?

RE: HS-55 Servo Upgrade
It was not that they were twitchy they just have a bit of slop in them and one of mine broke so I just got the 55's in a three pack something like 28$ at tower and like I said it was a huge improvement. Not to mention the stock replacement is 19.99.

They will plug directly into the stock electronics all you need to do is put the stock arms on the servo and adjust the swash plate per the instructions.

RE: HS-55 Servo Upgrade
I had to replace a servo due to a broken gear and I replaced it with a stock one under warranty. I can hover mine for about 3 sec hands off as long as the trims are set perfectly and I can find the sweet spot while in the hover.

Can you provide a link for the 3pack HS 55's? I see a 3pack but it comes with a reciever and it costs 60+...
I can not find a 3pack for $28...
I have two stripped servos..

You find a good deal on hs-65's somewhere armhunter? They're great servos, and I'd use them in a trex 450 for sure, but they're kinda overkill for the Axe... not to mention three'd run you $75 most anywhere.

RE: HS-55 Servo Upgrade
that is what I spent...
I dont want anymore problems..
I barley hit the tip of my blades, it was at an angle, but it stripped two servos, and broke a blade grip..
So I decided to get some servos with better gears and the cnc blade grips, since everyone is complaining about them.
Not only that.. I plan on getting a trex when I get better with this one and transfer the servos...

RE: HS-55 Servo Upgrade
i have already rebuit my rotor head once. whats the complaint about the grips? i'm learning to fly in my garage and icame down next to a foot stool i must have cut the throttle back, when i hit it , it looked exspensive , the blades flew all about the heli rested on its side. iwent to look at it and could not believe what i found NO DAMAGE. i had to flip a rotor blade 180 degrees so the leading edge of the blade is facing in the right direction i couldn't find anything wrong , it figures... ihit my arm with aspining rotor blade , not hard and i had to rebuild the rotor head..

I use two HS-55's on my Falcon 40. I highly recommend them. I got them for $10 each on www.towerhobbies.com

RE: HS-55 Servo Upgrade
do they improve flight control that much i can hover my axe for about 4 seconds before it wonders off never in the same direction. one thing i did to improve flight control was to add 1/16" collars to the flybar. start with them postioned up to the flybar carrier and moved one outwards towards the paddle until balance was perfect or close enough. my heli fly so much better , more control. i'm going to try blade cp paddles next, i just hope it does not dampen the response too much, i'm use to quick responses . if you don't have a quick reactions to movement how would you be able to hold a hover. i'm constantly making corrections.. could this be a servo issue?
