RE: axe cp thread
There are a few axe cps on ebay. you can probably get a whole heli for around that price on there. But tower might be your best bet. goto ebay and search axe cp
Heli- max is sending out a free upgrade on the there website part number HMXE7814 I sent them an email after reading about it on there site and here was there reply. Thank you for your email, I will go ahead and send the upgrade to the address you have provided. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at this email address. (Please be sure to copy all previous emails into any future questions.) You can also reach our product support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721. Thanks Again, James W. I thought that was pretty cool of them. Also the DX6 is installed and doing very nicely I used the OEM e-board with gyro. The DX6 has a revolotion mixing, which works with non- head hold gyros like the OEM gyro in the Axe cp. So as you add throttle it compinsates with tail rotor stoping the spin cause by adding throttle or decreasing throttle. tail is very stable like a head hold would be. Chaseman81 |
RE: axe cp thread
I have a brand-new eboard from HeliMax.......Will sell for $50.00. Let me know.

RE: axe cp thread
can anyone tell me the fix or adjustment to center my tail trim.
It is now all the way to the right and the damn tail still goes to the right. I tried to adjust the bottom pot but it just makes it tweaky. Please help! [&o][&o][&o] |
RE: axe cp thread
look in your manual page 11
mark the positions of the screws with a sharpie marker/ put a dot on the screw and the board so they align use a PLASTIC screwdriver and do not do this on the carpeted floor (static) start with the tail rotor trim, , write doen which way you turn the screw make sure you read all of the directions before you start. |
RE: axe cp thread
You have a manual? For What? Bird or Tx? I don't have a manual.

RE: axe cp thread
I do have a manual and I do understand how to fix trim problems.
On the tail there is no linkages to adjust to make shorter or longer to center the trim on the radio. The manual does not get very in depth on how to fix a tail problem with trim settings. The only thing I can think of is to change the pitch on the main blades to equal out the air resistance with the input to the tail. Or adjusting the speed (bottom pot) to turn up the tail to hold it left "center". I hope this make sense! Oh one other thing, I was doing some hovering last night and doing a flare. The top blade hit the carpet and the thing went crazy. On inspection; the battery got hit by the main blade "not very hard" and basically just put a dent on the bottom of the battery. The foil has no tear or punctures. I have flown it today with that battery and it did fine, I am charging it now and no flame or smoke is visible. Did notice the battery is a little squishy and swelling a little, but I think that is normal. What do you guys think? I don't want to burn my house down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
RE: axe cp thread
I have pic's but don't know how to load up on this site.
|
RE: axe cp thread
I'd love to know how the main blade could hit the battery! Must have been one heck of a wreck! I would chunk that battery and not trust it, frankly. You're right -- you do not want a house fire (or car fire, for that matter.)
|
RE: axe cp thread
If that battery is SWELLING and SQUISHY, you should get rid of it. I watched a friend have a short with a lipo ina crash. He just got it disconnected from his Blade CP when the battery started to swell real fast. About 30 seconds latter that was a 3' x 4' fire right there in the street. It was kind of scary and kind of cool all at the same time. Lipo fires are no joke!!!!
I wouldn't trust that battery. |
RE: axe cp thread
I just flew it again and it flew fine. I'm going to recharge it and just keep an eye on it.
If it get fat it's time to trash! I have seen those lipo fires also on you tube and it looked crazy dangerous! Read above, I'm still having trim problems.[img][/img] |
RE: axe cp thread
The battery flew out when it went crazy and the blade hit it.

RE: axe cp thread
Li-Po's are no joke. If that pack is swelled or squishy even a little it's not a matter of if, but when will it fail. Be careful. Most likely it will fail in the heli because that's where it builds the most heat. You may not have time to get it out. I'm not trying to scare you, but unlike other types of cells Li-Po's demand alot of respect.

Exactly.....exactly....but what ever you want to do.....?

RE: axe cp thread
Hey who sang that song......... Burnin down the house. You don't want it to be you Acadwheel [X(] I don't know if you are married... But... My wife B*tches when I spend 21.00 and 4.99 and 6. something, Hell $54.00 on crash parts. You Guy's know what I'm saying. LOL.
Don't know what the hell she'd say, if when the next time I was flying it, it burst into flames in mid air. Don't even want to think about the House or Car. Take the $54.00 you would of spent on the crash anyway and BUY A NEW LIPO! p.s NOTHING PUT'S OUT A LIPO FIRE EITHER THE TITLE TO THAT SONG IS: BURN BABY BURN DISCO INFERNO.... ETC,ETC ..... BURN THE MOTHER DOWN! chaseman81 |
RE: axe cp thread
WOOOHOOOO CIRCLES!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...tion/party.gifWell more like Ovals or even squares but I still did it! After a few weeks of flying left to right I decided it was time to attempt circles. I practiced on G3.5 all week and finally got the guts to try it for real tonight after work. I am happy to report that I am now able to fly circles counterclockwise circles. They are by no means smooth but that will come with time. At first it was intimidating flying nose in straight at myself [X(] then turning to right side in. But, I kept calm and confident reminding myself of the hundreds of times I had done it on the sim. I flew out 3 lipo packs without any major crashing or breakage. My packs are charging right now so I can go for it again tomorrow morning. After I get counterclockwise smooth I will start practicing clockwise. I am happy with my progress so far. I have only had my Axe since March and my practice time has decreased dramatically since I moved outdoors. My wife makes fun of me always looking out the window to see if there is any breeze blowing.
Just a note, my Axe CP is totally stock except for using ThunderPower and MaxAmps 3s lipo packs. And Arcadwheel - Dont risk it with that lipo. It is not worth it. Look on Page #4 [link=http://manuals.hobbico.com/gpm/gpmp0800-0831-manual-v1_2.pdf]Here[/link] for safe disposal procedures. Basically discharge down to 1v per cell then puncture the plastic wrapper and submerse in salt water for 2 weeks then toss in regular trash. Better safe than sorry!! |
RE: axe cp thread
I didn't see lipo fires on you tube. I really saw it in person. It's sort of like having an M-80 be lit in your hand....to a water ballon breaking in your hand. Comparing something like that. Use your bateries any way you want. The call to 911 will suck though.

OK I am going to throw my 30 dollar batt away and save a 200 dollar heli, (thanks! just makes sense I guess) I'll just pick up a new one. Had a small crash tonight (wind), I got up to 10 ft and a gust (5 MPH breeze) blew tail around and I got noodle fingers and dropped at 45 deg. angle into pavement. The darn thing lived except I was in Idle Up and stripped my main gear. Oh well 5 buck or so??? Yes it got my blades also but I have spares. Off to the LHS tomorrow. Here are some pics of my battery. Are you sure the damage is bad enough to toss? It's really just a dent. |
RE: axe cp thread
Whoops I for got 1 thing. The shop I go to the owner is
very respected in my city and I bought a charger from him when I got the helli. It's a nice one, I think it's a hobbieco quick charger. It charges 3 types of batteries, and yes is does lipo cv/cc. with 1A max. and no trickle. But the guy at the store told me to charge through the discharge lead and not the flat 4 holed charge lead. He said that's how he charges his. Does anyone charge that way? I have been doing it this way for about a month with no problems. Thanks!!!! Yes, I am still having problems with my trim for the tail! Nobody is answering this one??? |
RE: axe cp thread
Thanks to you and Heliko I am now a proud owner of an Axe CP manual. Thanks guys.

RE: axe cp thread
I have hovered for the first time! I went out this morning after spending about 2 months on the sim and hovered 4 stock batteries. Boy you sure can tell when the charge is getting low. Tail rotor starts to go and the axe wants to drift. All in the learning process I suppose. I have a question. I was flying in the parking lot of a local ruritan club. It is fine gravel and my axe got a bit dusty. Any reccomendations on cleaning? There's a small amount of dust on the main shaft as well. If I clean this off, should I re-grease it and if so woth what? Sorry about all the noob questions but more of that learning process thing. Thanks

RE: axe cp thread
Stevo- Way to go with the hovering. Just take it slow and you will be flying all over the place before you know it. I only fly mine over grass so it does not get dusty dirty but my RC trucks get filthy after a hard bashing session. I spray down my trucks with denatured alcohol from a squirt bottle and then immediately blow them off using my aircompressor. Be careful to avoid getting the alcohol on any of your electronics and servos. This method has worked well for me over the past year or so that I have been into RC. I have never greased my main shaft but I have put a drop of electric motor bearing oil on the top and bottom bushings just to keep things smooth.
When hovering tail in, is the tail drifinting to your right or left? Your tail rotor should spool up to speed before your heli lifts off the ground. I would start by adjusting the trim on your radio. If the tail is moving to the left and the nose to the right, adjust your tail trim to right of half way. If you adjust it all the way to the right and you still need more you will need to adjust to bottom pot on your 3 in 1 board. Make VERY small adjustments and test until you get it smooth. You will eventually get to where you can adjust your trim while flying. I need to readjust mine every time I fly. Each pack I use seems to behave different in my Axe and needs to be quickly trimmed right after takeoff. Then you will need to adjust the tail during your flight as the voltage on your battery pack drops. Arcadwheel- I charge all of my lipo packs through the battery leads and blance while charging using the balancing leads. I use a [link=http://www.maxamps.com/proddetail.php?prod=EOS1210i]Hyperion EOS1210i Charger[/link] coupled to a [link=http://www.maxamps.com/proddetail.php?prod=LBA10]Hyperion LBA10 Balancer[/link] to charge the lipos for my heli and my RC trucks. I have been using this setup for about 6 months now, only since march on my heli packs, without any problems at all. |
RE: axe cp thread
If that battery pack is soft and squishy and starting to swell. Discharge it, and dispose of it per manual. Don't take chances.
