Nice Job on the table hopping that was impressive.

RE: axe cp thread
nice! I see the paper must be radds box!! I"m still stuck in the box! :(

RE: axe cp thread
Hey, you're doing great. Impressed with the landing on the table. Now, you have to start to learn side-in orientation and finally nose-in. Once you've got those made, its anything goes.
Not a very big place to practice in. Have you practiced on a Sim or is it all actual flying? |
RE: axe cp thread
The Box on the ground is not radds school I was just using it as a point of ref. I found out about radds school after I had achieved a hover although I pretty much did the same thing on my own. Yeah it is kinda a small area to practice but I found it has forced me to have more control over the heli not because of a box or chalk circle but the wall is def a stopping force. :) I did spend some time with FMS and the RMAXb model to learn orientation and just generally train my fingers to do the right thing. All I had for an input device was a 360controler. I spent some time on the sim while I was waiting for the blade grips and a couple of other parts. Current mods are CNC blade grips 3 HS-55 servos and the 910mah 15c Lipo.

RE: axe cp thread
the area you practice in is a lil bigger then mine, but ya it does force you to try and control it better.
|
RE: axe cp thread
Man i love this thing!!!!:D:D
3 flight and i can hover about head height the whole batt. soo much fun. cant wait till FF. maybe take of the training gear soon and get a lipo. |
RE: axe cp thread
What is this Radd's box? I am experienced at planes, but still totally new to helis. I have been using G3.5 and a bit of parts when trying my real AXE. May be some different type of training will help. I can hover the real thing tail in, but not very good yet.

RE: axe cp thread
Just keep practicing. You will get it just wacth the heli for any movment and try and correct before it happens. Don't try and advance to quickly. Take your time and relax.
Good Luck Chaseman81 |
RE: axe cp thread
When I don't fly for awhile I pretty much fly terrible until I get use to flying again.
Also when I use someone else's heli I cannot seem to fly to well either. Flying in different places/areas seems to take me awhile to adjust as well. [:o] It gets frustrating... |
RE: axe cp thread
Hey Ms. Darla,
Did you get your Axe back yet or heard anything from Heli-max about it? I was hovering mine the other day and luckly I was only about 9 inches up and the motor quit. she drop like a rock (no Damage though) Turned out the wire that connects the motor came loose. I fixed it and it flys great. but what if I was up there and that happened. Thinking about getting a Gasser for Aerial Photography, either a Bergen EB or a whirybird. |
RE: axe cp thread
The company has sent me 2 postcards explaining the delay in parts.
My guess 2-3 weeks it might be here. When I sent them the heli I included a letter explaining a few issues from this forum which they did respond. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=5326259  |

I seen one of these last night in a axe cp allowing very good flight time of 15 minutes which is amazing for a $25 battery.
;) Video Of Axe CP using one of these: http://www.rcuvideos.com/view_video....699170b2b1dc8f  |
RE: axe cp thread
15 min. is a good flight time. I use Thunder Power 11.1v 1320mA and limit my time to 10-12 min. Noticed battery in pic is 700mA. Is the flight lasting untill the battery quits? Info I was given is to only run down LiPo's 80% so you have 20% left in pack at end of flight or you will damage battery.

Watch this video to see what happens to lipo batteries. It is have way down the page look for a picture of battery and watch. A good demonstration what happens when a battery is over charged. File Size: 5.1MB Duration: 1.17 M |
RE: axe cp thread

RE: axe cp thread
How is Realflight G3.5 on the flight characteristics of the AXE CP compared to the actual flight. I have G3.5 and was interested in buying this heli.

RE: axe cp thread
Simulator got me hook and I've been flying my AXE CP for acouple of weeks. If you could have the same "mind set" as on the sim. (red botton syndrome) when starting to fly the CP you would have no problem. It is built real light so is fragile. Will break alot!!!!
Mine climbs better than the sim., is easier to see than the sim., and doesn't grind itself into the ground like to sim. While it is a challange and alot of fun, I think if to do over, I might buy a bigger heli to start with. Axe needs a lipo battery to have any usable flight time, and then it costs $300. Think I would spend more for a T-reX or Century Hawk Pro Nitro. Going to want this stuff anyway later. |
RE: axe cp thread
The real thing is a little less stable than the sim, but very much the same.

RE: axe cp thread
Finally got my SIM loaded and have been practicing hovering my AXE on it. I am sold now, a SIM is by far the cheapest way to learn to fly a heli. Hovering nose in for example, if I had tried this on my heli I would have had to rebuild it a dozen times.

RE: axe cp thread
My Axe Cp Has this a slight rythmatic nodd in the pitch axis. About 2 times a second. Blades are balanced and tracked. What do you suppose is causing this???

RE: axe cp thread
I am a beginner and am really looking to get into r/c helicopters. Is the Axe CP beginner friendly or is there something else that would be more souted for me for about the same price and be able to advance in flying as I get better. I have had some experence with a mini heli( Heli-Max Roto Fly, I didn't like it very much. Tail Rotor kept burning out.)

RE: axe cp thread
I just bought a 9-C and thought I would try something. So, I bought a short crystal on the right channel, put it in, and guess what, it works. So now I can fly my AXE with my 9-C.
Still have to do some fine tuning, but I did get everything working right. This will be great, because now I can introduce a little expo, which I think will help me. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will post the radio settings to get everything moving right. Once I get the fine tuning done I will post that also. Bob |
