here's the ramp. I put a couple of my RC's on it for scale. It still has the chalk lines on it and everything. I will get it sealed and painted pretty soon so it will be looking better. I didn't want to go buy anything for it, so I just had to use whatever I had lying around the barn. What do you think.

I can't wait to get this thing running again so I can tear more stuff up with this ramp.

haha, thanks man

IMO its slightly overbuilt but I guess thats better then not being strong enough. Some of the wood is very greasy and dirty because it used to be my old RC workstation.

Better to be overbuilt. I built one and purposely underbuilt it for weight savings so I could carry it around easily. I even went through the trouble of laser cutting the side panels and burning a little design in them to make it unique Well, a guy at work left it outside one day and apparently some kids tried to use it with skateboards or bikes and broke it. I hope they smacked the ground just hard enough to learn a lesson.

I have been told that the hot bodies pipe is not much good. I havnt used one though. Those steering bearings seem a little expensive, do you have a bearing shop nearby? Probably get them for a couple of dollars. The zspec you will be happy with. I love my sh prospec (same engine).
I have yet to hear back from that sh exhaust seller i told you about the other week. I will try to contact him again.

Hey dan, check your pm.

I'm looking for a tire/wheel combo for this truck that might give me better all around traction. I just want a tire to run on every type of terrain and give me ok traction. I would like them to be about the same size as stock and maybe a little bit lighter. How would these do?

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMCZ5&P=0]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMCZ5&P=0[/link]

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLFS3&P=0]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLFS3&P=0[/link]

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLZP9&P=0]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLZP9&P=0[/link]

If I get any of those tires, I will probably mount them on these wheels

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJLF8&P=0]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJLF8&P=0[/link]

I also like the way this combo looks, but I think they are a little big and I don't know how traction would be.

The Revo's Talon tires and wheels are a great choice and my truck really responds to them in terms of handling and acceleration. They wear real nice too. They're much lighter than the stock Savage tires and wheels and they don't balloon up but a fraction of how much the stock tires balloon up at speed. I got mine premounted from Tower.

I've thought about those too.

They look good on your rig. I'll keep them in mind

While I was at the track last night racing my T4, I decided to make a few laps with the ole Savage. After a couple good laps, one of the rear tires came off. I found the hex adaptor, but lost the rear locknut (regular thread, not the reversed side) and the axle pin.

Does anybody know what the right axle pin is for this truck? If my LHS doesn't have it in stock, does anybody know what pin will work from another truck? Also, what is the thread size of the axles so I can be sure to get the right lock nut?

You can get the part numbers out of the Savage manual. In case you don't have one the part numbers are:

Nut Z682 M5

Pin Z260

If I had to guess, I'd say Tower probably has these.

Thanks for the #'s man. I didn't get the manual with this truck. I looked them up on tower but I'm glad my LHS had them so I could run it today. I bought Traxxas 5mm flanged locknuts and then some music wire to make the axle pins out of. I got 2 3' sticks for $2.59 so I don't think I'll ever need a pin again.

Also, when I was on the track last night the truck was geared 15/47 with the stock motor and tires. It did fairly well, but it kept shifing back and forth between 1st and 2nd. So the next race I go to, I'm going to gear it 15/49 and adjust the tranny to where it shifts to 2nd almost immediatly. That way it will stay in 2nd all the way around the track. I'm starting to like this stock motor more and more. So now I'm cosidering the Sporwerks .26 over the LRP.28. I hope it will still have good power, but not want to wheelie or break parts as much as the .28. I just don't know what to do.

Amec, I finally got the pipe today. Thanks Hopefully, I'll get it installed this weekend.

I just got home from the track. While I was there, I stripped the hex out of 2 stock wheels[]. I guess I'm gonna have to get the Nubs conversion. Those tires should do pretty good on the track and the 17mm hex should be alot more durable. Is there a big assortment of 17mm Maxx size wheels so i can get a good set of basher tires also.

Also, at the track I was all over my buddies LST converted to LST 2 with a Mach .26 in it. They were very competitive trucks. Near the end, my Savage was running the best I've ever seen it so I pulled it in to check the temps. It was running 301 degree's[X(]. Half tank lean problems suck. The LST was running 290 so I didn't feel too bad.

where's everybody at?

I just installed the SH tuned pipe and header on my truck last night, but it was too late to fire it up then. I'm going out in just a minute to give it a shot and I can't wait. I know I'll have to retune the carb since I changed the pipe, but I can't wait to see what it sounds like. A guy at my local track is wanting my stock HPI ribbed pipe so I'll probably end up giving it to him. I'm just happy to get rid of it.

truck sounds like your having alot of fun!! Have any pics of your beast? Finally put in 4 tanks on my savage, now to start dialing in, lol. I need heavier shock oil and of course my lhs doesnt carry it on hand. Man this 3 speed is insane. Not as quick off the line like I would like it to be since I am using 49/16, but will work on that!!

Here's a few pics of how the truck is right now. This is definately not how I'm wanting it to look. I don't like the purple aluminum so I've pulled some of it off, and I really don't like the stock body. I have to run these MGT tires I had lying around because I stripped the hex out of 2 of the stock wheels.

Soon, it will have the LRP.28, blue aluminum upgrades, maybe LST shocks, Proline F-650 body, and new tires and wheels.

Hey, have any of you guys ever ran those progressive springs off ebay? They are supposed to be triple rate springs. I'm just wondering how good they would be for all around bashing and occasional track use.

Nice savage. Are you setting it up for an all around basher or race?
