Default Rodeo- Editing the model parameters

Hi Rodeo

Got a few questions that it would be great if you could help me with

1. what is the parameter in the .tmd file (or whatever one it is) for the fuselage, side lift?

2.what is the parameter in the .tmd file (or whatever one it is) for the propeller pitch

Thanks
Ian

Hi,

please use the internal graphical editor to modify the pitch, because it immediately changes the graphics file.
If you would enter the value in the TMD and then load the model to the editor, the pitch jumps back to the previous value, because it calculates it first from geometry.

Edit the TMD only for parameters which cannot set by the AFPD editor (joint coordinates, joint forces and dampers, weight of sub objects like gear, wheels...)

im asking because i wanted to see if i put negertive pitch in, if i could fly my plane backwards. ive tried a negative gear ration but that didnt work I also wanted to know the side thrust parameter because i was wondering what whould happen if i could put it above 2 and see if it would KE hands off like a tensor and do KE square loops etc.

Thanks

Ian,

some days ago I talked to Ipacs about variable pitch propellers. They are already investigating how to implement this feature.

On the same editing subject, I'm trying to modify a flying wing I found using elevons. When I go into the editor, the deflection values for one wing says 41 deg and the other -41 deg.

If I change the -41 side, it jumps to 0. I can enter a plus value but any minus value (required for elevons to work correctly) jumps to 0 or positive. From what I read here can I edit the file mentioned to do it directly or is a special editor needed to understand all the values. I looked at it in notepad but is a ton of data all massed together.

Thanks for any help!

Hi,

notepad is not appropriate, because it does not show the line feeds.
Please use WORDPAD as editor.

Use the internal editor for all values offered there, because some of them immediately reflect the changes in the graphics (propeller size and pitch, wing angles...).

Edit the TMD with WORDPAD for any other parameters like strength of the gear, weight of sub elements, or mixing values.

Rodeo,

I'm trying to simulate an Ikarus su27 shockflyer that uses 2 sets of elevons (forward and rear). How do I modify the controls in AFPD to accomplish this? Thanks.

One of my downloaded aircraft won't sit still on the runway. Throttle all the way down and it still start rolling pretty fast. I'd rather not use the Tx trims to correct it. Is there a way I can fix this either in the AFPD aircraft edit menu, or in the .TMD file?

Thanks.

Luke,

open TMD with WORDPAD and check for Engine section.
There is the parameter for the engine idle.
You can decrease this value. And you can set it to 0 as well, this stops the engine completely when stick is down.
Now you can adjust idle with stick trim.

cd Engine/
...
RotationSpeedIdle = 0

Does anyone know how one can edit the 'bumpiness' or 'smoothness' for the runway surface in a homemade photorealistic scenery?

Thanks.

Open the ground.obj with WORDPAD and see this line:

g ground_gras

you can replace this by these extensions:

_asphalt
_gras
_meadow
_dirt
_water
_damage

The queue is from _asphalt being most smooth down to dirt being rather bumpy.

I would like to be able to zoom in farther than the "A" key allows me to. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Hi Rodeo,
What is the internal editor? Is it in afpd? or can I download it?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi,

@BLT
The limit of zoom is set by the keys A-Z, you can also see the values changing in the flight menu 'Main view - Viewer setup' (last entry in this menu). The actual words in your version can be different, I tried to translate my german menu.

Additionally you can switch from F5 to F6 to do an automatic zoom when the model is far away.
But generally spoken, in foto sceneries you should zoom OUT very strongly.

@Matt,
I used the expression internal editor for the AFPD menu 'Edit aircraft'.
When we create a new aircraft, it's very important to open this menu in an early stage, because AFPD does some calculation from the graphics and writes the data into the TMD. Then we can go on to edit these values.

I wish you a Happy New Year, guys!!!

Captinjohn,

I suppose you refer to the model Extreme 330 from my AFPD-page, dated 25.12.2004.
If you left click to the expression 'download here' you'll get a menu:

Open rExtreme.zip
-Open with Winzip
-Save to disk

Select save to disk, then select your directory to store it.
Since this is a rather old model, it does not come in a self installing EXE, you have to manually install the model:

Open the Windows explorer, navigate to the aircraft folder of AFPD, eg.
c:\program files\ipacs\aerofly professional deluxe\aircraft

Create a new folder with the name \rExtreme
You must use this name and the small and capital characters!

Double click to the rExtreme.zip to open it.
Then drag all files into the new folder.

You should end up with a directory like this:
c:\program files\ipacs\aerofly professional deluxe\aircraft\rExtreme

And it contains several files:
_readme.txt
preview-rExtreme.bmp
preview-rExtreme.txt
rExtreme.bmp
rExtreme.tgo
rExtreme.tmd
rExtreme.tmg
thumb.bmp

Captinjohn,

I don't want to offend you but I really suggest to do a basic pc training or get a guy showing you how-to-do-so.
But in this special case I will create an EXE for you and update my page tonight. Download the EXE then.
