Needless to say that for some reason my AFD does not pick my Multiplex TX, but I get to enjoy over 700 FPM on my new PC, is this good or what?

Dell xps 600 2Gb dual Nvidia video cards. when i enable the the second card i get not less that 1300 FPM, but that is just an over kill for this application i believe, so i wanted to know if 700 (worse case) is good enough. I have not been able to fly AFD since the appwill not pick my MPX Royal Evo 12s!!!
this sucks, and what it is worse is that i can not get any support from anyone on this....

I would send an email IPACS www.ipacs.de or Ikarus Germany from their website since Europe is really big on Multiplex.
Do the cables fit? Are you in PPM mode?

Your eyes can't detect more than 30fps. If your graphics card provides constant 30fps no matter which model or scenery in full smoke hover then the rest is overkill. However, because model and scenery size varies and smoke adds to complexity, 30-60fps on a average scenery siting on the ground with no smoke will not be enough as it will slow down.
Lest suppose your graphic update is 120fps constant. Do you get to see every frame as the graphics card churn them out? Not if you use LCD monitor. Most LCD monitors are running at 60hz (that is same as 60fps) and that is pushing it as lcd can't be turned on/off any faster. That means you are seeing only every other frame if you are doing 120fps displayed on 60hz monitor.
So what does 700+ fps mean? It just is ready for future updates on software that require and it also means you can run higher resolution ( if you are not doing it already ). If you add antiailiasing it will also slow down.
Instead of measuring static fps, if you get the tx to work, set your monitor to 1280x1024 or higher and add 2x antialiasing and turn on max smoke and hover smack in front of you and see what fps you get.

BTW, thanks to google, here is an article which talks about this stuff: http://amo.net/NT/02-21-01FPS.html

Oh boy. You just opened a HUGE can of worms with that statement. Your eyes CAN detect more than 30fps. Quite a bit more in fact. Up near 100fps, or even higher (depending on the person). Search around on various gaming message forums and you will see this is a VERY HOTLY debated subject. But there are demos out there that prove to your very own eyes that you can in fact detect more than 30fps. One can really go into a lot technical detail describing this stuff.

A lot of gamers will turn off v-sync though. Which means the frame buffer is being updated (and therefore the screen) faster than the sync speed.
BTW, here's a simple test you can do. Open a blank white page (Micrsoft Word, Notepad, etc.). If you are running at 60Hz, you will most likely see flicker on the screen. If not, look at the edge of the screen, and your peripheral vision will pick it up. This has always driven me nuts, and I HAVE to run at least 72Hz for it to not give me a headache. And once you know what to look for, it will become apparent much easier. Oh, this may not won't work for LCD's. Try it on a CRT if you still have one laying around.

red Z06, my resolution is 1600x1200 16x anisostropic and 8sx antialiasing and with one card i still get over 700 FPM with one card! if a enable the second it goes beyond 1300fp. Now i am just waiting for Ikarus to find out why AFD will not pick my TX. I just can not wait.

darn it, the smoke slows down things dow quite a bit (down to 170FPMs or a bit less). why would smoke calculations reduce the FPM so drastically?

3W, you are stating 700 FPM? FPM means frames per minute. So your getting 12 FPS? Weird.
2 cards might be coming up in my future. I got a ati 9800 pro that could use some help!@~)
