Hello,
Your right Doug and I will agree ARF's are getting better. I have had some bad ones a few years back. Sir you also should realize I wasn't mistaken about what the owner said. With that said a solid wing can fail if the phenolic is not glued in properly to the sheeting comming off the foam. Im sure J-Tech has a nice plane I like many others simply state what we saw or heard and lastly any personal experiences with kit's or ARF's good and bad. I think thats why these forums exist.
Thank you

One thing we have over looked here is that when a person sticks a plane in the ground the first thing usually went wrong was the radio failed or the kit or arf was substandard. Pilot error is something that flyers just do not want to admit to. I have seen the arf in question and these are quality planes. If I was in the market I would buy one. I am flying 30% planes and 2M Pattern. ARF's have come a long way. I have been flying 23 years and have a couple ARF's myself. Quite a few years back the EZ arf's were the best going at the time for arf's and wonder if that company still makes planes as they were really nice!!! Thanks for reading this. I hear that John Sharpless from AeroTech-RC Models is going to enter the ARF arena soon.

Hello,
Yes I have read the same thing. I believe he's making them here in his new facility next year. Not priced the same ans some, but I don't know anyone who could compete with the labor rates here versus overseas. Im on my third kit from them and have had great success. I hope he does well. Hes a nice person and I have been treat fairly everytime.
Also pilot error is can always be an issue but mine were manufacting issues that have been posted here on different companies for over a year. I guess my luck was bad since I bought too early. Water under the bridge now and lesson learned.
Thanks

Smack is right - I fly with him in Reno and his Extra flies light, and responsive with authority. The DA150 pull it around with ease...not to mention we're at 5000'+ altitude.
I'm building a Carden 40% Extra for Smack - and of course when you spend some 6 month building one plane with all the good parts, good glue, and hours of sandind - there is no way anyone could compare that to an ARF.
Of course it's all depend on who's doing the building, and how it was built...but I have to say that the J'tec is pretty awsome...fly nice, look nice...well until Smack managed to scraped about 1/4" off of the rudder while inverted pass over the runway...
You can argue all you want about kit vs. arf...but it'll come down to how it was built, and who's doing the flying.

I know quite a few people that are very exited about AeroTech coming to market with a new line of, built in america, ARFs. It will be nice to have an EDGE available. Too many Extras out there. He has some info on his site about it. 35% for ~$1500 and 40% for ~$2300 if I remember right. www.aerotech-rcmodels.com
I am building one of his 35% Edge kits right now and it has been a really nice experience. Generally I like the convenience of an ARC or ARF but this build has been great and relaxing. Nice Kit.
I would think Aerotech and Carden both have some very nice kits. The Aerotech is significantly easier to build though.

I can't comment on flying the J-Tec but I have seen one fly and they are great. 3-D is awesome and IMAC should be equal. It was flying with a ZDZ-160 and HITECs all around. Looked good. Would be a good choice- I am thinking of the Mecca 40% edge or this one if things don't work out on the edge.
What field do you fly at? I was with the WORKS club for about 20yrs on and off and flew at the Xenia field a few yrs also.
Hope the winter is a short one.

I too am interested in one of these kits. I hope its not all hype. I like it because it is BIG for a 40%. Does anyone have any pics of what it looks like right out of the box? Also has anyone gone the PAK route? I looks like a quick build. I am currently flying a 38% CA it the fuse only took a weekend to get framed up so that maybe the road I take for a little different looking bird.
