It's time to give credit where credit is due. This color scheme has been seen lately by many of us. Some coining it as their own. It has popped up on the cover of AMA on Garrett Morrison's Extra. Many manufactures are using it, and now Chip Hyde is using it. It is a beautiful scheme. After all it did win the WRAM show best finish award. So who's color scheme is it and who deserves the credit. THE MASTER BUILDER/FLYER YURI HIGUCHI.

Describing the scheme as "fraud" is a little harsh...
There is no copyright on paint jobs, color schemes, etc... and in order for fraud to take place, one would have to be defrauding someone (Yuri, in this case, if he had applied for copyright) or violate some law (theft of copyrighted material) ... and then selling it as their own work. In this case, CA is only stating that it was the scheme Chip Hyde was flying, they did not say Chip Hyde claimed the scheme as his own.
Since copying someone's color scheme is the ultimate compliment, and if in fact Yuri came up with the scheme, he should feel pretty good that Chip Hyde and/or Comp Arf wants to use it....
That said, I hate stars on planes and the scheme is way too busy anyway... so who really cares!
Discussing copied color schemes any further is right up there with a P.O.C. like Dan Rather copying a turd like Farenheit 911 -- its insignificant and meaningless... just like the original.

Your right. It was just a title to get some attention. It just came up in discussion with some friends. No big deal. I hear that Yuri is building a new aircraft for Hacker. He will be using "his" scheme on it. Hacker said to him isn't that Chip's scheme? Yuri said NO!!! And you are right about him being flattered that people love "his" scheme.
We all know where most of the more famous color schemes came from. Just wanted to get the word out on where this one came from.

Once again, The fuse is not the same only the wings are close. I think Kenny perfected Yuri's design into something better. Since Kenny was the original owner of chips plane that is why I am calling it a "Lauter design". Are you going to call every plane that has the lightening bolt on the side a Somenzini.

Well, when you look at a color scheme that looks similar; certain names pop into your mind. As you said, when you think of a Z on the fuse you think Qui. When you look at McConvilles scheme or Chips old scheme or Jasons scheme or Quis scheme no matter what colors or little diffrences, you still think of those names because they came up with it originally. All I was saying is that it is YURI's scheme.

If it's got a lightning bolt on it the idea was pirated from Gerry Lopez and Lightning Bolt Surfboards in Hawaii. It was his trademark. The design stems from the 1970's. BTW, Lopez spent quite a bit of time in South America playing with big waves in the 70's and 80's.

It's a bit busy and the stars look really dated.

C'mon guys, my scheme, his scheme what a load of bull*%&#. I can guarantee that if I design my own scheme there will be most likely another hundreds similar designs out there if not the same. So who really cares??

Having just delivered Chips new Composite-Arf 3.1m Super-Xtra to him a few weeks back he doesnt claim to have made up the scheme, it is just a scheme that he likes enough to have Andreas make him a Custom Paint Job of. That all nothing more..
Who really cares anyway? But really it is a very photo getic scheme and it shows nicely in the air. This scheme will never die and yes Yuri did a great job...
I happen to have the Andy Kane scheme...lol
