I sure hope there is a good turnout for this contest in intermediate. The ones in the southcentral have been kinda slim this year.

Alabama checking in here:
I'll be there in Intermediate with Kurtis Waites and Gene Sedgwick in Sportsman and Bobby Hawthorne in Basic. I also hope to see a couple more of our new IMAC'ers in Basic there as well. I'm calling around now.
Looks like a good start - call your buds and twist arms if you've got to.

Hey Guys--been getting phone calls all week. Its looking like over 30 entries. We do not have camping avaliable at the field. So go to Google and do a search. The closest ones are at Nine Mile Road and Pine Forest. It would be a good idea to make a hotel reservation ASAP. Also, I will be at the filed all day Friday, doing courtesasy sound checks. Any more questions or of you need assisatnce, please give me a call. The club web page has my phone number.

Ron,
What are the criteria for the sound check? Is it pass/fail? Would anyone not be allowed to fly if they are too loud?

I would like to know as well, as i have standard mufflers on my DA150 swinging a mejlik 32x10 at 5700rpms. and its not like i can take friday off, nor do i have spare props to experiment with... is sound an issue at the field? If its just for courtesy so we know how loud we are, that will help for the future.

A friend of mine has a 46% H9 Ultimate with a DA 150 and Menz 32x10 propeller.
He is flying on canister mufflers instead of DA standard mufflers.
I will guarantee that it will not pass if yours sounds as loud as his.
That is a LOUD combination.
It rips something fierce.

Last year I ran a DA-150 on standard mufflers swinging a Mejzlik 32-10 without any problems. The Mejzlik 32-10 is a very quiet prop when normal throttle management is used. You should have no problem passing in my opinion.
The Menz 32-10 is a different story. Especially if you fly it wide open. The Menz are very loud ripping props when no throttle management is used.

Ryan, why don't you see if you can borrow Greg's Bolly 32x10 for the contest. You should have no problems passing the sound test with that combination.

Hi Ryan.... I have to agree with Miles... I'm of the opinion that a Mezjlik or menz 32x10 (even on cannisters) won't pass a sound check.... The REAL question is: Will pilots be allowed to fly after they do the sound check if they are over the db limit?
The fact is that the ground sound test has little relation to how an airplane sounds in the sky..... I've watched & heard pilots with good throttle management use a Mezjlik 32x10 in competition that were not loud at all.... On the other hand I've also heard other pilots with the same combination who were "waking up the dead'!!
I'm bringing a 32x10 B Vess prop....it's brand spanking new & unused...all drilled & perfectly balanced...You're welcomed to try it on Friday to see how it performs...
I'll try to contact Robert Vess to see if he wants to send down a few 32x10s (C & D) to hear the sound difference....

Ryan,
Look on the bright Side You can win all you want and as long as there is less than 4 pilots you won't have a forced move...LOL
Good Luck in Pensacola
Also will You, Phil, and Cory be making Tulsa? I want a another chance at Cory, I have a new weapon...LOL You guys are a blast to fly with.
PS: I plan on calling and personally inviting Keith, Clint, wally, and Lary to the Texoma IMAC so you will have more pilots to fly against.
