What's the scheme under the wings?

Here is where I am so far. Weight is 26 lbs, with 1 lb of batteries, receivers, and switches to add. I hope to fly it this weekend, but I may put that off another weekend so I don't feel as rushed. The blue and red doesn't match, but I don't care. I think the canopy turned out better than I expected. Engine runs OK, just needs tuning.
It also doesn't look as pregnant as I thought it would.

Hi Don, it looks great. You win on the weight, looks like yours is going to finish up about 2 pounds lighter than mine. My paint didn't match the covering perfectly either. Will fly it this year and if all goes well will repaint the cowl next winter. I won't be able to test fly until mid May. Good luck on your maiden, keep us posted.

No maiden this weekend. I was programming servos last night, and somehow I managed to get two of them really hot, then one let out the magic smoke. Maybe next weekend.

I reset both of them to factory settings, then both of them seemed to stop working. I noticed one getting hot, so I stopped what I was doing, then looked up a second later and saw smoke coming out of the fuselage. It would seem like they both went hard to one side or the other or some such.
I did find it difficult to set EPAs on them with the programmer. It may be a faulty programmer.

Maiden flight was today. Needed a little trim (it isn't obvious by looking at the control surfaces), and the DA needed a little tuning. Otherwise, no surprises at any point. At 27.5 lbs it's a floater, and the DA will hover it at around half throttle. Best flying plane that I've ever flown.

Thanks for posting the final weight. It will be a good reference for my build.

Thanks guys! Do mind the side stringers in the rear fuse. I bumped one with my shin and heard a crack, minor surgery in my future. I replaced all the aluminum with CF, have a 32oz tank immediately forward of the wing tube, 2 rudder servos in the tail, two 2100 LiFe packs above the wing tube, and throttle servo/ignition/2500 NiMH up in the motor box. It balances right on the CG when measured at the wingtips.
Good luck with your build Pedro and good luck with your maiden OSG.

Alright... I just scored a ZDZ 80 for mine. Its getting much closer now to having all I need to start. The ZDZ was recomended years ago, probably before the DLE's, D something elses', etc.. were even in this country. It was a very affordable engine, lightly used... just broke in.. So I'm getting jazzed.. possible winter project here. Thanks to all for sharing.. I'll be going through every thread and video on this Extra for a while.
Hows everyone doing with thiers'? I can only imagine.. the last giant I built was my 27% Midwest Extra300 about 10yrs ago , and I'm sure I'll have it out for practice... these things do take a while.. but its moving forward a bit more now.
Keep the pics going.
