Shepard, It is looking good!!! I havent checked this thread in a while and havent seen your post. Just keep on swimming. I have gotten past the issues with mine. Got the polycrlic removed with turpentine, the landing gear moved forward 5/8 in (All the room i had on the plate) one of the Nimh glow batteries removed (overkill on the onboard glow) and moved the remaining glow battery into the tail in front of F6 with the reciever battery. With a little bit of a high idle, she is now a dream on approach and landing. Probally close to 50 landings now, and the nose over issue is resolved. I don't know how much weight i removed in all, but it behaves beautifully. Rock solid on turbulent days and a joy to fly......Will try to get some video and put up here eventually. Keep working on yours and don't loose momentum! Steve

Steve , Thank you very much for your support, encouragement from you and the members of this forum helped me more than I can put into words.

OK maiden report :

Cloudy with a slight cross wind. Assembly at the field went smoothly and needed to take the bottom wing off to adjust the throttle cable. The Saito 100 started right up !!! and ran smoothly . Fine tuned the mixture and set it on the ground. Kept telling myself to get plenty of speed on the take off roll and off she went . A really wild ride ! Took it around for a few laps , very pitch sensitive. So the first landing attempt was a go around only to realize I had limited throttle control. I knew I had to bring in the next one to a full stop as I did NOT have enough power for another go around. It took all of my concentration to get it on the ground in one piece. BUT SUCCESS !!!

SO guess who forgot to tighten the throttle cable cable .

Second flight was just as "pitchy" . In the turns the tail seems to "drag" and stay low . So I think I will move the CG forward.
Glad you still got an airplane! A pitchy hog is not a happy hog for sure. Some of the same things I went through (except the rearward cg thing)....A generous dose of exponential is also in order if you haven't already ....minimum of 20, and I am not so sure if i wouldn't go 30 on elevator... You mentioned where you set the cg eariler, but my plans are stored so the inchs were unknown values to me. Percentage wise I think I am about 29 % .....A little over half way back if i remember right. My hog was almost impossible to handle without exponential with throws set at recommended high rates . On approach it would pitch up and slow to stall speed in a heartbeat especially with a low idle the time or two I flew it in the beginning with no exponential. If your cg is too far aft...the loose throttle cable might have helped saved you.,.. You might have been keeping in some spare power down final without realizing it. One of the for sure deadly zones with an aft cg is when you loose the prop wash over the tail on approach... real easy to stall it in an instant pitch up......I would think anyway.

I moved the battery forward and I moved the engine as far forward as it would go. now she flys really nice.
