Shown installed with the servo tray. The tray is secured using ten 4-40 cap head bolts.

First photo shows the proposed placement of the battery and servos. After figuring out the logistics it was time to cut out the tray for the servos. I prefer to hold my servos in the tray with 2-56 blind nuts epoxied to the back of the tray and the servos secured with bolts rather than screws.

This is what they look like after the trays were cut to fit the servos. I did make a change in venue, as in the beginning I had stated that I was going to split the elevators in half and use two separate servos. Well, I had a spare receiver laying around, but it would not handle all the channels that would require me to split the elevators, so I opted to save myself a couple hundred dollars and use one servo with the existing receiver that I already had.

Thanks, My covering hasn't come in as of yet, but I do have all of my stitching and tapes ready this time. I also bought a couple of props (Falcon 20-8). I hope to get started on the covering some time next week!

Looks great Vincent. You had me wondering if you were some kind of Houdini when I was trying to find the "notch" in the first few photos. then the elevator control surface disappeared.........I thought I was losing it until I saw that notch!

A little off topic but I wanted to share something with you. I bought my 5yr old grandson a Hobbyzone foamie last weekend. He spent all week practicing on the simulator and we went to the field Sunday morning. He put 3 good flights on the plane. I took the plane up to about 100ft and handed it over to him and didn't have to take over until landing. If we weren't fighting 7-10 mph winds I think he could have landed himself. All the guys in the club were amazed at how well he was flying. I have a .40 nitro trainer to put him on next spring.

He thinks he is ready for the big time now

Great story Anthony. These youngsters today have real good hand eye coordination so it doesn't surprise me. In a month or two he'll be flying the pants off you! Has he done anything on control line? Bet he would enjoy that as well...Cliff I'll mark my calendar for your visit!

Wanted to share a tip with you this morning. When it's time to assemble your servos, those little brass sleeves can sometimes be a bit aggravating to slip through the rubber grommets. You push and push, then your fingers start to hurt if you're like me...so next time try this: take an allen wrench ("T" handle) and slip the brass barrel over the allen and use it to press them on, works great and your fingers will thank you!

No control line stuff. I will have enough of a job keeping him in R/C planes. I am hoping he sticks with the hobby for the long haul. I can't even imagine how good of a pilot he could be starting so young. I may have to build him a couple crooked planes just to keep him from making me look bad.

Good idea. A Phillips bit in a jeweler's screwdriver also works very well for this. Pick a size that fits the inside of the eyelet. The round head on the 'driver makes it easy to push the eyelet into place. Place the eyelet with the flange against the wood servo rail (under the servo) so that the sharp edge of the eyelet does not cut into the wood.

For the servo eyelets I just took a steel rod and ground one end down on my grinder to make a lip, and I use that to push them in, works great!

Been working on my trailer. I took a little inspiration from Dave. With my back issues my wife has been a big help. She did most of the painting and she rolled out the carpet to get all the wrinkles out. I built a cabinet up front that will house the 12v deep cycle battery and a few other items. The counter top is carpeted. May change that later. I still need to add some more trim pieces and build the wing racks. I do have 2 shelves(hollow core doors) carpeted and the brackets are painted and drying.

I could not find any cabinet doors locally so I will have to order (2) 18" cabinet doors.
