What's the SIG Smith Miniplane model wingspan?
How does it flies?
Would SIG Co. mind if i use their logo on my model? Of course i would try to create a decal for it, but I think is dooable.
Will a 40 engine will be enough?
Thanks in advance guys.

Bob, how much would cost the original SIG set of plans bought from SIG Co. and would you post the link werew i can orther them. I have a friend coming in January from US to visit his family and i can ask him to purchase them and i would pay for them here. That would do the trick and i'd be very pleased to do that.

SIG still makes the kit and the box can't be much over 48" long, do you think your friend could buy the whole kit and bring it back?
Just a thought.

Bob, that's way above my pay check. I checked SIG's website and the kit costs like 138. I'll maybe ask him to buy the plans, cowling and the decal set.

Thanks Bob, that clears it up for me. I had a feeling it was that way. I had talked to the guys at National Balsa last year and they pretty much said the same thing, but not a minimum part order. I have some B-17 plans that want to get a kit cut from, but it would be cost prohibitive unless I could find 10 others to share the cost!

Thankfully I found a full intact kit for $100 and snapped it up. I have a Gemini 120 that will be a perfect fit for it.

Thanks Bob. What a pity. Well done acdii, you got a good deal there! I mean, what's not to like about that model? You can even use it to recreate the actual plane and enter a scale contest.

Bob, what would people say about it? Why they didn't like it?
Does my English is going through? I'm sorry if sometimes you guys don't understand me. I'm self taught. You know, picking up frases while watching movies, listening music and the basics from school.

Last night I was day dreaming about building the Smith Miniplane and I usually change a little bit models appearance according to my taste, so i played a little bit with Smith Miniplane's 3 view drawing and this is what it came out. Hope you guys don't hate me after this😉

You changed the tail to a more Spitfire shape and rounded off the head rest. Why would we hate you for that?

Hydro you're keen but not enough, which means that's the other chance i made is something you'd do too and that is that i also slightly moved the cockpit a bit behind. The tail is from the Spitfire MkIV and I would also change wingtips to a more Hog-Bipe shape, the cowling and landing gear to a Super Skybolt shape and the stab more like to a semi-heliptical shape.😉

I'm already working on bringing the SIG plans to Cuba.
In case you don't understand something i'm saying, please feel free to ask what i'm talking about. You see my English is self taught and most of it comes from movies, from which i picked up frases here and there. It also comes from listening music and trying to understand them, plus what I learned in school, but mainly it comes from practicing and devouring airmodeling info and tips. So, sorry if I create any misunderstanding in the future.

I only had a few seconds to look since I had just started my shift at work. Those two things just stood out at a quick glance is all

Yep, you're right Hydro, they do stand out, at a fast glance, specially the Spitfire tail, which is eye catching. She'll be a gorgeous aircraft. I can wait to receive my plans and start cutting balsa wood.
I have a brand new Magnum FS 52AR 4 stroke and a 2nd hand ThunerT Tiger GP42 to choose from, to power her. I don't have any experience in using 4 strokes engine, so i'm not sure if the 52AR will be enough.

Thanks Jim. It seems to me that she cries out loud for those changes, not that she isn't gorgeous at she is originally. Right?
Thanks everyone for your input. It feels really good to be part of this community and i anticipate lots of fun building the model and sharing with you the entire process. It'll be expensive because of internet crazy prices over here, but worthy of every penny.

Flyer, that sounds really nice but there're two problems concerning that. First, the cost of the kit is well above my paycheck, so I can't afford it. The second -and the saddest one- is that recently the army issued a prohibition to import any kind of flying radio controlled model and accessories. That's what you get from communism 👿 So, in orther to bring the kit, it has to be cammuflaged being re-packed in a new box and other sort of things and one still would risk loosing the kit and the money. Sad isn't it?

Just wonder how you are going to fly this one. You will need a radio and accessories, balsa (Kapok).... I guess control line would work.

Here's when the thing becomes absurd! Then again: Comunism.
The thing is, that all modelers associated to the Cuban Aviation Club (like AMA, FAI) are allowed to fly their model/s in the respective authorized sites, but we can't import things. Is like they're waiting for us to run out of models, engines, etc. On top of all, this resolution was issued right after somebody attempted against Maduro (Venezuelan president) using a drone.🤣🤣🤣
Any way, here's another d "Day dreaming" of mine. Check out what i did to Smith Miniplane. Comments are very welcome.

Hi guys ¡¡Merry Christmas to you all!!
II jus returned from Cárdenas, a city to the east of Varadero. I was attending our annual Plastic Models Show. We have a small plastic modellers club and mostly all of it's members are from Cardenas, excepting myself and a friend, us being from Havana. I had a great weekend hanging out with the guys. I mostly do 1/48 WWII aircrafts, but as we can't always choose, I don't mind building aircrafts from other periods. The important thing is that we all do, something we love and enjoy. At least plastic models impot is not prohibited.
Jim, thanks for your comment, I like her very much too and I can't wait to start building it and enjoy the ride it represents.

Cheers.
Raudel.
