Newbie and Sig Kadet MK2 ?
First time builder and I've looked though a lot of posts to find out what a good layout for the battery, receiver, ignition for motor should be.
I've got most the plane built but am unsure where and how to mount these items.
Does somebody have or know of a post where I could maybe get some pictures or drawings of how they mounted there stuff?
TIA

IIRC, the plans on the Jr(a smaller version of the MKII) had the forward servos right on the CG. Since I used Futaba equipment in my plane, I used a Futaba servo tray FST-28T to mount the servos and power switch in. As far as where to put the radio and battery packs, I would install a servo tray where shown on the plans. If you're using a nitro motor, I'd put the tank where shown on the plans as well. The battery pack is installed under the fuel tank, again according to the plans. As far as the receiver, IF you're using a 2.4GHz system, I'd put the receiver either under the servo tray or, conversely, install the servo tray as low as possible and install the receiver above the tray. If you're using an AM or FM system, locate your receiver where you can route the antenna out of the plane so that it will have an unobstructed line of site to the transmitter. I know, some will say the antenna is fine inside the fuselage but, if you're using an older system, an unenclosed antenna will work better

I be here. Our club is planning a Turkey Wing Fun Fly this Saturday. We try to do it each year. We're digging out of a foot plus of snow with more on the way Friday night, but that won't stop us from trying. We've also done a New Year fun fly without fail over 20 years. One year with 2 ft. of new snow. Skis optional. Much fun.

Snow? What is that?
I've seen that white stuff only once in the past seven years, that being last February when I had to deal with roughly two feet falling over a week. The first night was the worst with almost a foot and, me being at work and my truck not being set up for it, it made my drive home a little interesting. Funny part was that I didn't have any real trouble yet I passed several cars and trucks spun out or off the road, many of which were four or all wheel drives. My truck is a two wheel drive with an automatic, something that should have been trouble but wasn't

Hey all y'all!! As far as I'll ever be able to go with it, the SIG history website is now complete - the RC10 Simco (last aircraft with no information at all) was added on 30 June and the instruction manual for the Herr-115 P-38 Lightning was added just a few minutes ago.
If you haven't been there lately, or haven't seen it at all, front page is at: https://wanderings-ds.jimdo.com/

Four Star 20 mod?
Count me in, please!
I have been a happy sig customer for many years...
I'm considering getting a Four Star 20 and convert it for my dad's O.S. .25.
Any tips to mod the EP version would be sincerely appreciated...Thank you and Happy Landings!

I'm concerned over the longevity of SIGMFG. I placed an order for some dope and brushes a month ago, and have yet to see it. Quite unusual considering in the past they were sending me orders next day, well before I expected it. I have heard from others that wood orders were backordered for weeks or more.

I honestly think they are in the dying breed of companies. The RC hobby has turned to ready fast, for the gimme gimme now crowd, and the demand has gone down to the point that it doesn't pay to keep stock anymore of the products that were your mainstay in the market. It also no longer pays to develop new products in the original line. Herb was working along those lines by bringing in the ARF products, and they do work hard at making sure the quality is there in the products they sell, but the decline of builders is what is hurting them most. If they don't move products, they don't build inventory, so when someone does need a product, then we wait while they fill the order.
You are correct though, the Rascal 168 was rushed out without a lot of testing, and the first ones that flew lost a wing and that did not bode well at all. That right there more than likely put a complete end to anymore kit development by SIG. That and all the guys who were really good at the kit making either passed away or retired.
What I don't get is why can't they make kits from the ARF parts? Is it because they would have to come up with building plans and manuals?
The saw room fire hurt them pretty bad too from what I understand. They have yet to fully recover from that one.

Yeah fire damage can be real hard to overcome. The saving grace for us builders are the number of independent laser cutters that have sprung up and the big plan databases you can download for free or buy printed copies. The cost of laser cutters and 3D printers will see a shift in the way builders get some of their finished materials.
