Actually, the Blue Angels planes aren't Navy Blue. They are a very specific French Blue with a very specific yellow trim. Since I'm at work, I don't have the color numbers, I'll post them later

The Antique Airfield is a beautiful place! You are blessed. I used to. Live down the road and very actice in the EAA chapter for Sun N Fun. There was always plemty to do year around.

I so wish there was a Flap/Aron wing kik for the kadet. Ordering a new one tonight thanks to the LAb pup turning it into a chew toy. LOL.

Yeah, but he's a cute pup so you'll let him off the hook! He'll grow out of it when he turns two.

And that doesn't make me miss my dogs at all. Ducks are much better pets any way. No chewing, no scratching, no shedding, no barking, no getting in the trash.

I had a pair of ducks as pets when I was young. The would nip my mom on the leg for attention when she was hanging the laundry and anyone or anything else that came into the backyard. They had the dog trained to say hi when she went out. And you should have seen what they did to the neighbor's cat when he cornered them thinking he could get a duck dinner! Fur was all over the place! He never did come back into our yard.

So why is it I still and always feel like a kid at Christmas when I get a new SigMfg KIT? It's like a warm feeling, excitement of the build, tradition, supporting a GREAT American Co. Etc etc. - new Kadet SR ordered direct for the first time instead of the LHS. Yeah, I feel good abt it too. Just like keeping LHS in business on many things... I want that extra ? % toSig this time. :-).

Happy Camper here.

GUYS. I HOPE all can forgive my 'touch screen' typos! Tis technology is made for kids I guess. LOL. See there is another one! Tis instead of this. It is laborous to go back and correct. Still cool to access on a phone though.

Sig delivers fast(as long as it isn't a holiday week). For me it's like next day delivery, Shipped one day, arrived the next, 3 times now.

I do have a problem with SIG though.

Not enough room to store their planes. That reminds me, I need to see if they have the Liberty SPort plans available.

I feel the exact same way every time I open a new kit the first time to look in and again when I open the box to start the build!

As for the typos: Touch screen? I ain't got no stinking touchscreen! I don't need no stinking touch screen! I can make my typos with a keyboard just fine!

LORD! To the folks (yes I am in the south and you should hear my accent) at Si g. Great job on the Rascal110 ad in Model aviation! Now I have got to have one. Yes, I do believe it was the flaps that did it.. I wish it was a 120 to lighten up the wing loading. Hey. It's a fun change from the P51 to calm the nerves.

Bill, I have the little brother to your plane, the Rascal C, and it is one fun little flier. It was an enjoyable build too! The wingtips may give a newbie a little trouble but if they follow the instructions carefully the washout should come out right. I coverd mine to match the box except I used gold instead of the silver pinstripes and used green instead of gray paper for the interior. Hey, I'm still a builder and we HAVE to personalize every airplane!

I have flown a Rascal C, had a Norvel .074 I think, Great flying plane. I now have two Lil Rascals, my original red one I got about 9 years ago and a blue one I just put together from spare parts still available from SIG and a scratch built wing. Lil red was one of my all time favorite flyers, and small enough that I just kept in the van all the time. I was late for work on a lot of nice calm mornings until I wrecked it.

Hey folks,
What's the deal with Sig killing off so many kits from their line? I just looked at the discontinued sale list and it includes the Herr Pitts, Mid-Star 40, Fazer, and many more, aren't these pretty popular kits? It seems almost all of the Herr kits are being sold off. Oh, I have a Herr Pitts, Smith Miniplane, and a halfway completed King Kobra with retracts that my dad started in the 80's that is still salvageable. Hopefully sometime soon I will add a Somethin' Extra to the hanger (recent graduation from college and no permanent job limit my budget for R/C stuff)

Mine was damaged a while back due to a bird strike. I flew over a duck in tall grass and it spooked and tapped the airplane in the getaway. The landing gear broke loose, prop lost a blade and a wheel pant broke to pieces. I fixed the gear, bought a new prop and now I just need to get around to assembling and painting the spare wheel pant.

As far as I know the duck was uninjured. It was a bad choice for a flying location

Hey Mike I noticed that too. Not as many kit builders maybe? I feel an obligation to the Hobby to buy products that have been around a long time and US companies. I am a huge Four Strike fan but last plane and the new Kadet will have K&B Sportsters on them. Fox is out of production now as of the public statement issued a few months ago. Shame.

What is your degree in? May have some contacts for you in MS or AL

Indeed it is a shame, Bill. I have just about got a list of kits that "I need to buy" so I can get them while they are still available. Or at least that will be my excuse for getting them. And my degree is in Wildlife Biology, thank you for offering your help, the job market has been pretty slim in this area.

OK I'm lost. I thought SIG had a listing of plans still available, but must have confused it with Top Flite.

Mike, Would it be possible to locate a set of Liberty Sport plans? My friend has one of these planes and it would be great to have a set a plans to go with it. It's been cracked up a few times, and having plans would be helpful to fix it up.

Hey acdii, I don't believe that plans are available directly from Sig, BUT I'm sure that there are some plans floating around out there that a fellow RCU member wouldn't mind letting go of, I'd just ask around as this is probably one of the best threads to find what you're looking for with so many Sig fanatics checking it out.

acdii... I saw some Liberty Sport plans on Ebay last week for like $11.00. Looked like someone traced out all the parts for repairs when building the plane. Also had kits supplied instructions etc.

Me and Ebay dont get along. My account is broken, can't login because it asks for a PIN from a device I dont have, and cant email support, because I can't friggin log in.

Went flying today, was a nice day, light winds, high 50's. I was very surpised to be the only one out today. One guy showed up just after I packed up after being out for 3 hours. I tweaked my LT-40 a bit, swapped the prop from APC to MA, and slowed it just a tad on landing, and leaned the low speed just a touch so it has better throttle response. Flew 2 tanks through it which is a lot of air time. Lots of touch and goes and landings.

After that, got the 4* out, started the engine and ran it about a minute, then swapped the prop to a 16x4 to see if the lower pitch will slow it for landing, tweaked the needles just a bit and the engine is running good. I am a lttile leary of WOT since it sounds like its over-revving with that prop, so flew at half throttle only. It really impacted performance, and yes, it did slow it down on landing, way too much, darn near fell out of the sky. So after a couple landings, I switched back to the 16X8 APC and flew on that. I pretty much figured out the landings with that propl juast as i cross the threshold, I pop full flaps, and settle in down. The ground is a bit rough so it bounces quite a bit, but the landings are more controllable now. Going to look for a 16X6 if I can find one.

I found if I increase the flap down setting on the throttle, it just climbs like crazy. So what I do now is just wait until its just about to hit the stall before deploying flaps and it settles down and lands. After 6 landings like this, I have it down to just a couple bounces before it stops. The rough ground and springy gear has both planes hopping down the runway. It was also a cross wind on landing so lots of rudder inputs to keep it lined up. More practice like this will help when its time to fly the Warbirds.
