I’ve always wanted a Super Chippy in the Art Scholl colors. Haven’t really stumbled onto a kit that had the scale fuselage profile. I did however pick up a very loved on ( used ) Pitts and over 3 years of on and off work turned it into Art’s Pitts. Shown here with a buddies Goldberg Chippy.

Dear Chipmunk-friends!I got the tip -Fiberglass Specialties- from you when I was looking for a cowling and canopy.Unfortunately no one answers my questions and when I try to call you only get an answering machine.Does anyone know if this company doesn't exist, or if it is closed, or if this company is a trustworthy supplier?If anyone else knows where I can get the cowling and/or a canopy, I would be grateful for any adviceI'm looking for a cowling and a canopy for my Super Chipmunk in 1:5 scale (81" wingspan). Sorry for my wrong English

I just ordered the Wendell Hostetler 30%. What servos are you guys using for this size of plane?

I have a kit here along with the cowl, canopy, wheel pants, and decal set. You may want to get your cowl and canopy on order from Fibertech -n- more. All I need is to finish a few project ahead of it! I really can't wait. What are you planning for power?
I thinking that I will use Hitec D945 servos for my build.

I have started building. I find the Hostetler plans not quite as good as Ziroli plans. There were some issues with cut wood so far as well. What I see so far:
1. Holes in main firewall 1/8" too wide. This means the side formers 1-5 need to be narrowed a 1/16"
2. Laser cut side panels not the same which makes no sense. They should be exact.
3. Horizontal stab I think S2 not cut and no extra rib for elevator
4. Former 5A/5BC not in the same plane on the drawing side view. Same on front view and in sample photograph.
5. Tail of fuselage confusing. Two drawings of former 10 not the same.

If you have built like this before, you can read between the lines and the errors but certainly not a fir

For those building the Wendel Hostetler 30%: My wood kit is from National Balsa. I have 3 pieces I cannot find on the plans anywhere. A rib which doesn't seem to go to anything "A1", two plywood pieces "F12" and "TB". Just curious if anyone see's them on their plans.

I am working on the Chipmunk where the rear wing meats the fuselage. That's got quite a curve on the real airplane.

I am guessing you too are having issues being able to upload pictures...
I access the site strictly by computer. Found that I can clear my internet Cache and it usually will give me at least one chance to upload before reverting back to no upload option. Stuff is so intermittent is drives me nuts

No trouble posting photos. Mine is coming well. Long process getting the spars aligned and gear aligned on center section. Working with the aft part of the wing the plans are very general and require the builder to improvise the fairing. You can see what there is to work with here:

After the first light ply is added, the underside is fiber glassed then small triangle stock added to give bottom side something to glue to. Pretty happy how it turned out overall.

So a question. N1114V is a 2-seater? The aircraft at the national airspace museum a one seater? Anyone know of any photos of the cockpit of N1114V?

14V is hanging in the EAA museum. It does have a front seat, but I don't think there are flight controls. Here's a pic.

That's about the only photo of the cockpit I have found. It looks like top of rear dash is chopped off.

There are quite a few differences between 14V and 13Y (at the Smithsonian). 13Y has a completely new wing (designed by Art Scholl) to incorporate the retracts and it has a bit more horsepower, I believe. He flew one the finest airshow routines I ever saw.
