hessian 123, have you use Enviro-Tex before and how did you use it on an airplane? Pictures would help, if you could post them.

Thanks

Fred, we all have our other hobby. This is my 1964 MGB. I am the second owner, bought it in '86, new interior and a paint job and I was on the road. We still drive drive it on warm summer evenings, I think we have been on every paved road in the county. By the way I still use the soft top and touno cover that came with the car in '64. I love to show it off.

Hi Rich,
Love the MGB. I had one in the early 70's. I traded an RC radio for it. Of course it didn't look like yours. LOL Very nice restoration.
Thanks for the pics.

I have not used it before, sorry. I'm just filing away techniques to try in the future. I've always just used finishing epoxy with peel ply. I'll probably do the same on my smoothie.

Finally got a good day to do some painting. Bright sun and almost 70 degrees. I was able to get the plane primed. Priming makes a nice base for paint and gives a uniform base for painting.
It also shows up all the areas that need puttying. I'll fix these and re prime those areas.

Look'in great. I can't quite make out the rattle can there. What kind of primer, putty, and paint are you using?

I use ACE grey primer and Napa automotive glazing putty. I usually use Krylon spray or Rustoleum for finish paint. I like Krylon, it dries very quickly and can be recoated quickly.

Hi Check 6, nice Nova, I had a '76 SS. Not too powerfull but at least it didn't have an air pump on it and with headers it sounded alright had a Saginaw 4 speed, I wish I could have found a better gear box for it and I wish I had some pics of it. It was firethorn red with white stripes along the bottom.

Nice "B" Rich I love the knock off wheels I had a '69 "GT" and I wish I still had it. It had the knock off wheels too and the dealership I bought it from had done the brakes and put the rotors/hubs back on the wrong side, making the wheel nuts "self loosening" My boss borrowed the car to take his wife for a ride and one of the front wheels flew off on him before he got home. It took 3 or 4 months to get a replacement knock off nut

Thanks Calvin, for your comments. We love driving the MG on warm summer events. You are right, replacement parts are hard to find. I have had the MGB since 1986 and I take good care of it.

OK, I managed to get some paint on the plane. Bottom of the wing panels are done. This is what I'm using and the colors.

You are inspiring me! About how many rattle cans do you think you'll need to finish her up?

Thanks for the comments , Tony. Pappy, I used one can for the bottom of the wings, and I guess one for the top, probably another for the fuse, although I don't know if I will use the whole can. One can of red for trim should do it.Four cans all together. Hopefully get the tops of the wings done tomorrow, weather is still holding . It was 70 degrees today.

Got the fuse painted. It was cold so I know I will have some runs. I will sand them out and touch them up when the weather gets warm again. The red trim will go on next but will have to wait around a week. Want to make sure the paint cures enough. Can says 2 days before coating again.

Did a little cockpit detail while paint is drying. I covered the cockpit area with 220 wet/dry sandpaper. Gives some texture to the cockpit. Also put some instruments in and a pilot bust.
