Yes sir..... it is starting to slick up real nice!
Isn't it crazy how much difference a "COWL" makes on how they look...
At 6-1/2 lbs with the engine pipe combo, it should be another speedster when the left stick is all the way up..

Today is glass wing center and start wing fairings, takes alot of time to make them and fill and sand the excess off.
Hopefully today all the actual wood construction and gluing will be done, hard to say……
Still have wingtips and fairings to add, then it's clean up time..........................
This part is messy and time consuming…..day 10

Got my first real set back today, was doing a pre cover balance to see if I’m close on c/g. I added the 5 servos, prop, everything except covering and had to add a ton of tail weight to make it balance. In total I’m going to have to add 5-6 oz of tail weight bringing my all up weight to 6.35 with no covering. I shouldn’t ***** too much, I’ll still be right around 6.5 or slightly over. I read online others were between 7 and 8 pounds so I’m bummed but it is what has to be done.

That's always disappointing when "USELESS" weight has to be added. Especially when it's over a 1/4 pound.
But Hey, if you still come in under 7lbs with that power set up it will still get on down the road and climb out of sight...

Yeah I'm pretty bummed out about it.
I decided to finish everything I can, mount radio gear and set up everything I can before covering.
Hopefully by doing that I can eliminate some of the tail weight needed.
The plane is so light in the rear, there is just no way to avoid adding weight but to shift everything rearward................
I'll still be ok, but man, that is a killer right there.

Tips are carved and rough shaped, back to the fairings for wing and stab………
I made the rear stab so it can be covered first and then installed absolutely last so the least amount of tail weight is needed, all wood is completely assembled now and it's time to clean up shaping/sanding and get ready to cover…….🤔

Since us Super Tigre lovers are few and far between, is it too late to cut in a top hatch - just in case you ever part with it to one of those egg beater power modelers? 98% of the hobby market being electric these days (give or take) who got lazy with foam in a box, won't have a brain aneurysm about converting it over to EP. You can get a lot more for a model the day you retire it if there is an access hatch on top for their lipo battery. I know I know, stop cussing, I'm with you, I'm just thinking ahead.
Remember when you could buy any width header from Mac's website to match your fuselage? A header and pipe cost more today than the engine itself. It's now a hobby of improvisation, and what Dave Platt called years ago, the principle of scarfology.

Here is some color, I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either.
It’s going to be fine and if I hate it tomorrow then I’ll tear it off and start over………

I was able to maiden my little kaos and get 7 flights on it and helped a guy maiden a P-40.
Those 2 days of flying was just what I needed, flying in February is almost unheard of here..😄
I got the engine mounted this morning and prop and pipe added as well, time for more covering……….
Also the Intrepid arrived yesterday so I’ll open him up and see how bad it is, my buddy rescued it from a hobby shop in Southern California and it is going to need some tlc…………🤔

Going today to get my graphics so that’s cool, flew my butt off yesterday…………😀
After covering the plane I am able to add only 4 oz of tail weight now instead of 6 ounces so that’s fine with me. All up weight of plane, radio, batteries, etc is 6 pounds 12 ounces and that will be really close to rtf weight.
I’m feeling good about this plane………..It just feels good at this weight, hard to describe……….Pretty sure flying weight will fall under the 7 pound mark and that’s a win!!!
