Again I say-- get aquanted with the fellows at your local flying field. they, collective are receptive to questions and answers. most have been there before. YOU will NEED them when your ready to fly at THEIR field. GET aquainted ahead of it. dick

If you are thinking that the firewall is twisted or not perpindicular, this is correct. This firewall is designed with a thrust angle. The torque from the the prop spinning causes the plane to spin the other way. The angle of the firewall has the same effect as the rudder being trimmed to recover from this. So, no worries. I put this plane together but haven't flown it yet. Just a note, the tail wheel assembly included with the kit might not be the best for the plane. From threads that I have read, most kit owners have replaced them. I have yet to fly mine so I don't know how effective it actually is.

I noticed you have your servos mounted very far forward. You might be sorry. I used a .46FX and I ended up needing to mount the battery in the extreme rear of the plane (extreme as in under the stab) to get the plane to balance. Make sure you check your CG prior to covering!

Servos are where they should be, the CG is located 3.75 inches from the leading edge. But ur right about the battery/reciever part. Talk about nose heavy eh? (not sure if i should put the battery and reciever up there but we'll see when i balance it) Heres a pic of my nose section. it seemed like mine didn't piece together as well as i thought but i think it will be fine.

It took a good bit of futzing around with the parts to get the cleanliness of construction that I got. And the photos don't really show it, but a bit of that has to do with using filler to fill up some of the more obnoxious deficiencies. I like this plane a lot (well, so far at least) but I think GP could improve it a lot by upgrading the quality of the wood and maybe changing over to laser cutting the kits.

So true bout GP. It should be fine though. The Fire wall feels solid and i feel that it should do just fine. once i get the cowl over it it will look good (gota order and re cut that thing... terrible with ABS parts got lucky with the canopy lol)

I'd suggest ordering a fiberglass one. I did, didn't even mess with the ABS one. I'm sure that some people can put those things together and make them look good, but I'm not one of those people. Got fiberglass wingtips too. Not messing the wheelpants. I fly off of grass and I catch enough weeds in just the landing gear.
Of course, right now I just need to finish the blasted thing up. Had it in the covering stage since December and just haven't been able to get motivated to get back to it since then.

As far as getting fiberglass parts for your RV. Go to WWW.fiberglassspecialtiesinc.com. Once there, click on the catalog icon at the bottom of the page. Click on the parts for kits in the upper right corner of the page that comes up. Then click on Great Planes and scroll down to the bottom of the list and you will find wing tips, cowls, and wheel pants available. Happy landings and many of them.
