Atid!
There is a thread on posting pictures of your Four Star.
There are a whole bunch of pictures of 4 Stars built by flyers.
Yours would be a great addition.
Whoops! You already did!! So Sorry!!

Great looking 4*'s everyone. You guys must have all gone to covering school because I can't cover to save myself!
I have had A LOT of time this winter to build and that led to several modifications:
Flaps
Winglets
Hinged Canopy hiding the remote fuel fill, remote glow, switch and charging jacks
Counter balanced rudder and elevator
Concealed cowl
Inverted engine
Mac's polished pipe
It's turning out pretty good so far, I hope it flies!!

I find everyones inputs well worth the reading as I am getting ready to start to put together a 4 Star 60. Anyone know if the kits from a 40 size to a 60 are just a proportional size / material increase? I am guessing that the tips and advice for the 40 would apply to the 60 as well. Yes / No / Maybe?
A site that I have found very beneficial is attached regarding the 4 Star planes. It has very detailed info as well as some very neat modifications like rounding the turtle deck off to get a more streamline look. Well worth the visit!

Thanks for the insights!

I finished a 4* 60 recently and made some of the mods suggested on RCU. From what I've read, the recommendations for the 40 apply to the 60. I shorted my wings, sheeted the turtle deck, and trimmed the canopy. I also added round tips to the wings and replaced the ailerons (a.k.a. ugly thick slabs of balsa) with some 2" aileron stock from SIG. Plus I added wheel pants for looks.

Great looking plane Kerry!
The stripes had to be a $&%#$ to carry through and keep even that well.
Did you use the stock front landing gear?
The wheel pants look great on it! Who's are they? Fit right up to stock assy?
I am hoping, and I really mean hoping, to fit a Venus 40 canopy on it rather than the inverted stock one. It may require too much molding to even it out and look OK.
What the heck, the worst that can happen is that I start that area over again.

I think cutting them was worse than applying them. The Top-Flite striping tool is only fair at keeping the stripes even width.
The landing gear is the stock aluminum that I painted with LusterKote (primer and paint). The wheel pants are made for a 60 size Great Planes U-Can-Do 3D. They have molded on ridges that the gear is supposed to fit through. You either have to grind the landing gear to narrow it up, or grind off one of the ridges on the pants. I chose the easier and ground the pant. Underlying surface isn't great, but I figure who's going to notice. Just sprayed it with white and called it good enough. Probably most any 60 size pant would work. Just didn't know the ones I ordered had the ridge till I got them.

Thanks for the response Kerry!
Hope you don't mind copycats as I think I will follow your lead with those pants.
It really smooths the plane out!
I think I might just order some cut graphics and let the pros do their work.
If I did it, it would look like scribble lines!
Hmmmmmmmmm! Maybe an abstract art scheme plane! Nahhhh!
Thanks Kerry!

great looking ship!
if i may give you a caution. on landing do not be afraid to keep the speed up. they like to ground loop! you will not find a better plane. it will do everything you want it to.

Copy away. I copied the trim scheme from an ARF.
I really like the look of wheel pants. But they can be a pain in the you-know-what when flying off grass like I do.
By the way, we did get one nice weekend and I got 3 flights on her. Flew similar to a Venture 60 that I had, but rolled quite a bit faster. I'd attribute that to the clipped wings. Very easy to land with no tip stalling tendency.

The 4 Star 40 did it's madien!!! It flew well! Engine ran great!
It is my first build and I am quite proud of it. A few little building mistakes but the 4 Star 40 is a forgiving bird.

Well the 4 Star 40 was not maidened by me but a more experienced flyer. Needed more tweakin on the engine. Tonite I finally took it up for my first flight on it. I took off, flew around a bit. Did some rolls and loops. Did some runway line-ups and touch-and-goes. Then landed. THe thing flew great!!!! IT goes exactly where you point it and you have bring it back to the place you want it. It does this alot quicker than a trainer. I guess the work to use is the plane is more sensitive or "spunky"! I did over compensate alittle at first but I soon got used to it. The TT PRO 46 is a scramer and pulls it with authority. Things happen like "right now". The plane is a joy to fly and made me think I knew what I was doing.
She got down in one piece and for that I am happy. Methinks me will have much fun with this plane. The Venture 60 is next!!
Also, it is hard to believe I soloed 1 year ago today and I have now just flew my second plane!
