RE: BTE Venture 60 build has Commenced!
There was a Venture 60 kit on consignment at my LHS for about 6-8 months, marked at $125. I finally had the shop call the kit owner with an offer of $75 - and he said "Oh, I forgot that was down there - OK, I'll take $75!". Now, all I need is time.......

I am adding a piece of blue to the rudder but dont know what yet. The wings will get a little touch of blue also. I made the control rods for the aft servos tonite.
Actually my wife dosen't know, I just didn't feel like dragging it downstairs. Everytime I do, I ding it up somewhere.
A Venture 60 kit for $75!! That is a dream deal!! Good Luck with the bild, you will love it!!

If that's a dream deal then what would you call getting one all framed up ready to cover for $100??? It's what I did and mine will be all transparent yellow with black trim.

Well Im almost there! Just a few more little things to do. The engine is just glued in for CG measurements. The CG ended up being just fine with the aft servos.

A few more
A few more
Question though: any worries about telling top from bottom with that cover scheme?

Swager,
The covering job looks real good. I would suggest however to take some of that blue and run some wide stripes across the bottom of the wing from front to back. Otherwise you will have a big problem with orientation while it's in the air.

I am already on that. I am putting thick blue stripes on the bottom of the wing and the curved design (same as tail) on the top. I took the V60 to a mall show that my clubs puts on and they recommeded the same thing.
Thanks for looking out for me though!

Well, I put on the final monokote.
It turned out OK.
In the first picture, the namesake of the plane was my little helper!

Connery,
Hey! Im am sorry to hear about the loss of your 4 Star.
She was a beaut!!
Were you able to save anything from her? Engine? Servos? Receiver?
What is your next project?

Swager,
The plane looks great! I am getting ready to start my Venture 60 build and would like to sheet the leading edge of the wings. Did you have to make any mods to the ribs in order to sheet the leading edge of the wings?
Thanks in advance,
JesseV

Yes.
You have ribs that are cut to allow the sheeting in the middle of the wing. I forgot what number they are (A-1 and A-2 or something like that). I just match them next to a regular rib, (A-4s?) used a pencil to mark the outer rib and cut of the access. This allowed me to sheet the the upper and lower leading edge of the wing. YOu have to mark on both the top and bottom. Ensure you have a sharp Exacto Knife.
Good Luck.
Oh! look at Post #3. I explaine how I did it!

RE: BTE Venture 60 build has Commenced!
Well, I finally got around to getting the V60 to the field for engine break in. The ST 61 started with no problem and ran strong. I had to adjust the low level idle to richen it up a bit. Felt uncomfortable doing it by myself so I packed in the V60 (Wait until more experienced people get there) and flew the SSE for a few flights.

Keep us updated! I really want to know how it flies with the ST .61. I plan (when I get around to actually building it) to use this same engine on mine.

Fubar,
I didn't get the V60 up this season. Next year early.
It is all ready to go. Just need to run that engine alittle more!
