build some skis and get it up this year haha what's a little cold weather.I have been getting things ready for my vent this winter if i get around to building it.I called Bruce and got an extra set of ribs to cut and put in the leading edge to the spar in between the the regular ribs to keep the cobering from sagging and save some weight over sheeting that section, also got the wheel pants, dual airlons setup, fancy tail wheel and best of all a new 91 GK for the front.Hot to finish a telemaster 40 and I would like to build a 4* 120 so I might not get to building the Vent.I have already built one and sold it before it was finished(boy buddies are nice he needed one in a hurry for an event) well got to get to work.

17 August 2006.

The Venture 60 finally flew!!

And it flew great!

The engine was alittle rich and the transition from low to high was sputtering, but with the help of the club members we got the Super Tigre 61 rippin!

A few click of trim was all it needed. The plane flies incredible. Even with the flight controls tuned down the darn plane rolls on a beautiful, straight axis.

I am very pleased. Bruce did a great job!

Yes, it was a beautiful night for flying in Central New York.

Fubar, I know this is really late, but the ST61 pulls the V60 with authority!! I flew around at half throttle and the plane just zoomed along!

I just thought of something. This kit went from a box, to in the air. About 22 months, but is was not in a hurry to fly it.

Sorry this thread took so long!

I wasn't really happy with the knife edge performance on my Venture 60 since the first flight. Finally got around to moving the battery back to liven things up. Man did that make a difference! Flys much more responsive now. That on top of my Saito .82 burning 30% heli fuel... Talk about fun!!!

I NEED TO GET MYSELF A NEW VENTURE 60 . IVE BEEN FLYING AROUND 13 YEARS NOW AND THE VENTURE 60 WAS THE BEST PLANE IVE EVER HAD . ITS ALSO THE ONLY PLANE I DONT HAVE NOW . MY RADIO WAS HIT BY SOME THING FROM THE AIRFORCE IM SURE BECAUSE 3 OTHER PLANES WERE HIT THAT SAME DAY . A FRIEND OF MINE LOST HIS PLANE A FUE MINS LATER . WE FOUND OUT THAT TWO OTHERS WERE LOST AT THE NEXT CLUB OVER ABOUT 20 MILES AWAY AROUND THE SAME TIME OF THE MORNING. [&o]

"A little Four-Star history is in order here. I'm the designer of the original Four-Star, the Four-Star 40. While at Sig, I also designed the 120-sized version. After leaving Sig, the first design I worked on was my "improved" version of the Four-Star, and I chose to make it a .60-size model (Venture 60) so as not to compete with the existing kits. A year or so later, Sig introduced the FS60. From what I can tell, the wing of the FS60 has a substantial increase in the weight of the structure due to the inclusion of a couple lite-ply shear web/spars and some extra diagonals. For the record, I don't think all that stuff is necessary and it's been proven with the V60 wing. One other difference is that the V60 is designed to use a single aileron servo to save a bit more weight; however, a lot of builders go ahead ane put dual servos in the V60. Either way works fine. V60s, almost without exception, tend to weigh right about 7 pounds. FS60s tend closer to 8 pounds. I think my wood selection makes a difference too...

My official recommended range for 4-stroke engines is .65-.80. Now I'll be up front and tell you that I'm employing
something of a psychological "trick" that I've learned from past experience is necessary. The range does not include the .91 because a lot of modelers will see that and instantly start thinking "1.20" (yikes!). By ending the range at .80, modelers make the mental jump
to .91 and I can live with that.

Bruce"
I love mine with saito 100. It is perfect
Unlimited vertical 14x6 prop limits top speed.. i LOVE this plane. I wound up with2 aileron servos side by side operating the torsion rods. All hidden away, but easy to plY with differentizl
