What would be an easier kit for the beginner...Skyshark Or Topflight?
Im looking either for a Cessna model or Warbird?
Any suggestions or other model companys that might be good to look at.
Im new to building not to flying..I can fly Warbirds or Aerobatics such as the 300's and 540 Edges.
Thanks!

I haven't built a Top Flite kit for years. I never liked them because the wood wasn't that great, the die-cutting was poor and the kits were extremely complicated for what they were. It was like you were doing all the work to make a scale masterpiece with a model that wasn't as close to scale as it should have been.
I just got my first skyshark kit. I haven't built it yet so I can't say that it's going to build easily, but the kit looks very good. It's all laser cut, came with a nice glass cowl and looks a lot simpler than a comparable Top Flite kit. Again, I haven't looked at recent Top Flite kits so they could be different now than when I last built one.

By the way, when you say beginner, I assume you mean beginning scale builder. There are no scale kits that are suitable for beginning builders. If you want to build your first kit, then look for a modern trainer such as a Sig LT 40. It's a great kit that builds into an excellent airplane.

If you're new to building, the Sig Kadet is a real builder's kit. There is a lot more work than the usual trainer, and the results are worth it. It has only a few pre-cut pieces, the wing ribs and the firewall. Thats it! the rest is all sticks and a bit of sheeting. It's a great flyer and one of the most kit-bashed kits around. You can turn the engine to the side, or invert it. You can add alerons(reduce the wing dihetheral). It looks sweet as a taildrager to.

I get from your post that you have flying experience just not building experience. I was in the same boat and chose as my first kit the Sig Something Extra as Old Mill suggests. It is a straighforward build, has great instructions and provides a very good first build experience. I would highly recommend it as well. Here is a thread on mine:

Don't let my build time scare you off, any delays that I had were mostly due to me doing other things.

Great Planes make great building kits such as the P.T. (perfect trainer) series I built mine back in
1989 everything interlocked I picked up the wing with out glue and it stayed together. Another Great Planes kit thats a great build for newbies is the Easy Sport 40. If you want a laser cut kit the Sig Somethin Extra is a most awesome kit. The Manual says it can be built as fast as the builder can add C.A. the manual is dead on. I got out of the hobby for almost ten years and the Somethin Extra was the fist kit I built since I got out of the hobby bulding that kit was like I never quit building. But with any kit, just make sure you read and study the contruction manual and plans before you start building. And set up your building table
with all your supplies such as T-pins, the proper glues, razor knife and saw, etc.....
as well as one very IMPORTANT building tool to have is a perfectly flat building surface. And take your time building dont rush it. You may want to wait to have a few kit builds under your belt before going to a war bird or a scale project. Hope this helps.
here a couple of pictures of my Somethin Extra.

The TopFlight Gold Edition kits are much better than the TopFlight kits of old. But I do know what you mean by the die cutting not being that good. I've built a few TopFlight kits such as the Flight Streak and the Good Old JR. Knobler. all of Top Flights new kits are all machine cut now.
take care all
