I am trying to find a plane that I can take to the field for a quiet, relaxing day of flying. I have a EF Yak and am building a OMP Yak profile for 3D, I have a Sonic Q500 with a Jett 50 for speed, but nothing for when I just want to fly normal. At first I thought of a 60 size trainer, but am concerned I will get bored with it. The next thought I had was a Top Flite Cessna, which I really like the looks of, but have been told it is very time consuming (which I guess is ok) but my bigger concern is crashing it after putting a lot of time into it. Although not a 100% accurate comparison, I flew a 40 size trainer and the Cessna on Real Flight and the Cessna is a much better flyer. This is the closest comparision I can get as no one at my club has a big Cessna and it has been a long time since I flew a trainer. I definately want a kit and also want it to have flaps and be a 75-80 inch wingspan. Are there any other planes I should consider?

I had a modified Kadet Sr ( w/ a K&B .65 swinging a 14x6 prop) for about 10 years, and LOVED to fly it. W/ the flaps it would loop an landing... dive at the field at idle ad at about 4 foot , add flaps, 1/2 elevator , throttle. At the top of the loop add the rest of the elevator and back off on the throttle. ALWAYS came out higher than it entered
Then go right into a landing.Rolling circles RIGHT after take off, It side slips so well it almost lands sideways. Wore a few sets of Dubro wheels off it doing touch and goes. SUPER tight flat turns. I had a bomb door and external release on n mine too. Very easy to use he whole tank just dropping stuff. etc, etc... Wind really wasn't an issue. Only problem was taxing. Once in the air, it was a blast.
I just gave it to a buddy last week as I've switched to glow, and this plane was SOOOO fuel soaked. Will be building another for sure.
I've been thorugh them all... ( well except for jets) and still love to fly just about anything, but I try to always have a trainer to fly. Just because they are labeled a trainer ( and some that are, aren't ) doesn't mean thay have to be flown that way

narpets - I know there is always something to do. As much as I do want this plane for touch and go's, I have others for 3D if I want aerobatics. I will most likely end up with an Extra and learn some IMAC sequences with it. My biggest goal with this plane is to have a winter project, and then to have a plane that I can use to go "back to basics" and fine tune skills that I never spent time on since I was in such a hurry for 3D. I am thinking the Extra combined with precision might be another option.
