I know the 4* is not listed on [link=http://www.stansfibertech.com]www.stansfibertech.com[/link], but he does say to contact him if you don't see it there.
Maybe the Somethin Extra cowl will work.

My Feedback: (2)
Hey N8theSk8,
I got notice that you had sent me a msg, but I couldn't access it when I logged in. Anyway, I'll give my answer here...
The short answer is that I never found a fiberglass cowl for my 4*40.
I had gone to Fiberglass Specialties (I never tried Stans, by the way) and they did their best to try to find one that fit. I sent them a profile, and they sent me a cowl to try. I even cut the cheeks off my existing 4*40 to try to make it work. The cowl that they sent me was close, but not close enough. I had to give them a lot of points for trying to help.
I had gone to them because someone on that particular thread was 'sure' that FS had a cowl, and if I remember, even hinted that they'd already bought one. As you can see, every once in a while you get some bogus info on any forum.. it's not the forum's fault. A very few people are just that way.
Anyway, FS and I chased our respective tails and FS did all they could to accomodate me. In the end, there wasn't enough market demand for them to generate a mold for a new cowl, and none of their existing cowl's fit.
Sorry to let you down on this one.

First thanks for your help. I was hoping to find one but I guess I will go with the cheeks. I have a 40 LA to use right now but I was hoping to get a little better motor at a later date so I hesitate to build a balsa cowl. I guess I'll just point the needle valve up so I don't have to do any carving.

Hello All,
I would like to develop a cowl for the 4 star 40. One person said they would send me the front end of a wrecked plane to work with but I haven't seen it yet. Eventually I will get it done, I'm sorry we don't have it for you now. We are close to finishing a cowl for the 4 star 120 and we do have one for the 4 star 60. Please call if you have any comments or questions. Thanks.

I had a .46LA in my 4 * 40. I was disappointed in it's performance. I started with a Master Airscrew, then tried an APC. The APC provided significantly better performance. I've put a .50SX in, and am now verry happy.

N8, I have been flying a similar airplane called a Starduster by Midwest. Looks like it was designed by the same person. My son is flying a World Models T-34, on a bad day he took out the cowl and the firewall, since rebuilt and flying again. When the new cowl was on the work-bench, I tried the fit on the nose of the Starduster, it slipped right on almost perfect. Only slight modifications to the cheeks of the fuselage would have been necessary for a perfect fit. The cowl was around $25 from World Models in Livermore California.
Best regards from old bird.

Hello, Both the 4*60 we have and the 120 I'm working on are the CAP style so I would probably go that same direction. If someone had a better idea I'd sure be willing to look at it. I won't know if the cheeks have to come off until I get a plane to work with. Are most people mounting the engines sideways? Can they be inverted? I appreciate any input. Please let me know by email, I don't get back on here too often. Thanks.
