GoldBerg Super Chipmunk
[8D]Hi Guys
Looking for any information that might help!
I am about 80% complete in the construction of my Goldberg Super Chipmunk. I plan to power it with a OS61FX and use a pitts muffler. I know it will be no power house with this set up but I can live with that. I have built the wing with flaps. I would like to tint the canopy but the scrap material I have left over from cutting out the canopy does not dye well. Does anyone out there know of a easy way to get a tinted canopy.
Also is there a easy way to stick the decals and getting a second chance if you dont like the postoning. Thanks for your input.

RE: GoldBerg Super Chipmunk
Hi DVI,
Been flying my CG Chipmunk for exactly two weeks. SWEET AIRPLANE !!!!! I have the same 61 on mine and it is a power house. (mine wieghs 7.0 lbs)
There is a prduct by Pactra called spray tint. It is realy for electric cars, but you aren't going to get any fuel in your cockpit.
OH, and glue that canapy on good, I blew my canopy off today in a knife edge. I usd RC560, but didn't scuff the Monokote first. The canopy deformed so violently as it departed the plane, it cracked my paint loose in several spots. Now I have to repaint the darn thing.
Oh, I didn't tint mine, looked OK
The instructions include tips on decals that work great.
I left off the flaps. I wouldn't say it comes in at a walk, nor would I say it lands hot. It is middle of the road, not bad.

For the decals mix a drop or two of dish soap with water and spray the serface of the decal and fusalage, position the decal and squegee out the liquid. I use a credit card with a paper towl folded over the card.
Windex also works.

RE: GoldBerg Super Chipmunk
Mine has an OS 61 on it and it is plenty. The plane will knife edge and while it is not unlimited vetical, it will do a very nice straight up climb. Mine weigths in at 7 pounds and I do have the flaps on mine as well. They are a blast to play with. As for the decals, the windex method is about the best as it allows you to position them where you want them. My canapy is not tinted, so you can see Art sitting inside. Good Luck, Dave

Thanks Guys for your replies.
On second thought maybe I will just leave the canopy clear.
Kingwoodbarney your chipmunk looks great. I hope to have results that look as good as yours!
Do you guys have a pitts muffler and if so, who makes it?

I love Bisson mufflers, but I went with the Slimline. Either one sticks out a little, but I think the Slimline sticks out less. I'm getting good back pressure and it sounds really good, sorta mean.
Oh and thanks for the compliment. Good luck with yours.

The chipmunk is easier to fly than the glow trainer I learned on. It will also wad itself up in a ball when you want it to and leaves you change when you need. Great plane.
