Default Goldberg Ultimate / Evolution 1.00

I have been flying now for 3 1/2 seasons. Although they are short seasons here in upstate NY. I trained on an Avistar, and still love to fly it, and have been learning my tricks on a Sig Somethin Extra. Recently i traded for a Goldberg Ultimate. This will be my first plane that is not a 40 size and I want to make sure that I get an egine that has enough power, but I am on a tight budget right now.

I have seen reference to people who have flown these with OS 1.08. I have also read up on the great 2 Stoke vs 4 Stroke debate and have considered a 4 Stroke. Recently I came across the Evolution 1.00. I had read some good reviews on the .46 Evolution and was thinking about trying the 1.00 in my Ultimate. At about $160 it comes in much lower than the OS 1.08 in price. Maybe their will be a 4 stroke in my future, but would this be a good option for flying the Ultimate for now. Also would I have trouble finding a muffler to fit in the cowl with the Evolution 1.00.

I cant wait to fly something a little bigger but want to make sure I have enough power. I put a OS 46 AX in my Somethin Extra, i loved the extra power over the 40 I had been using. I really want to start learning some aerobatics with this plane so i want enough power.

I fly my Ultimate on a O.S.90 2 Stroke. It flys great. I think the 108 is a bit much for this plane. The Evolution should work out just fine.-Good Luck.-Mike

I had an asp .91 in mine and it flew great. I have seen a few fly with the larger engines and they will fly to the moon .But you don't need all of that power, because the plane isn't that heavy. The engine you want to install should do just fine.[8D]

I would say that a magnum XL 91 four stroke would be great for this plane. I have one in my 60 size P-51 and have never had a single problem with it and if you are on a tight budget this is the engine for you as they are dirt cheap and reliable

I also have a CG Ultimate that is nearly fully framed up. I have both ST75 and an OS91 Surpass laying around. Would these motors be OK for the Ultimate?

Either should work being your at sea level (Im guessing) the 75 may have more power than the surpass being a 2 stroke. I've flown all of mine with the 91 2 stroke and am more than pleased with the preformace here at 4000 ft. You could always try one than the other without to much hassle. Mike
