I am not sure you will see this. My guess is that hooked went through a 13 step program, used balsa patches on his arm, and chewed on balsa sticks for a month to get unhooked! We should not try to lure him back into our addiction since he is obviously one of the few who have broken free from the overwhelming need to snort balsa dust and CA glue!

Guys, can someone help me out. I just bought one of the, but the plane I bought didn't come with any plans or an instruction booklet. Do any of you want to supple me with the necessary documents so I can have as much fun as you!! The person I bought the "ARC" version sold it to me here on RCU, but I found out laster that he purchased it without the plans or instructions and then decided not to finish it. I want to finish mine, so any help will be very much appreciated.

Regards, Dean.

Mark is correct that sig would be your best bet. Most people will not part with the original plans that they have, and it is illegal to reproduce copyrighted plans unless you are doing it for your yourself using plans you purchased to use to have a builder set and master set. Plans are basically included in kits to be used by the purchaser or builder of the kit. Another person can use your set of plans, but legally you cannot sell them as that would be profitting from someone elses copyright protected plans. So you either need to find someone who would be willing to loan you a set, give you a set for free, or call sig and buy a set of plans from them.

Love this plane so much I enlarged 16% and built three of them with Ryobi 35cc gaser. All fly like the wind they ride on sweet!!!!

I have been flying my Hog with a OS 70 4 stroke.....and just replaced it with an OS .91 4 stroke...now I have to put in a lot of down trim otherwise it climbs like crazy. I don't have the plans anymore and I can't remember if they had called for any down thrust....
with all that down trim I don't have enough up elevator....

can someone recommend the amount of down thrust I should put in???

Thanks

There is downthrust built into the firewall installation. I don't remember the exact figure but it is somewhere around 2 degrees. I have a Saito 91 in my Hog and it flys fine. The elevator is centered when trimmed. Try putting a couple of washers under the motor mount to give some down thrust. Check your wing incidences as well. Both wings and the stab are set at zero degrees incidence, while the engine downthrust, as mentioned, is around 2 degrees.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply.....I believe the aircraft is okay as it flew fine with the OS .70, but I'll check the wings and the stab. My climbing situation started when I changed the engine....I will put a couple of washers under the rear motor mounts.

Thanks

Thanks, that's the number I was looking for.....now I can check it with my incidence meter and make adjustments as necessary. I put two washers under the aft mounting bolts yesterday and it help some.................I believe the extra power from the .91 is causing it to climb.

Hi gumhead,
You built a Slow Poke Sport 40 about the same time I did.
I am building a Hog Bipe too, you are much farther along on your Hog Bipe than I am, please post pics as you cover and paint your plane.
Hopefully you will cover it in fabric and put one of your awesome paint jobs on it.

Hello, Gumhead

I took view your website and feel very nice your planes!
I'm building mine and got questions about Hog Bipe cover sheet of fuselage. do I need wet the balsa sheet before cover them on fuselage? how did you make that, please. I'm going to use 10oz fuel tank and is it enough biger for 91 4c Magnum?
Another, I found my ribs have no any holes, but yours have the hole for every one, is it different edition? I must make holes on rib for servo's wire through in.
thanks and wait your video upload.

I've been playing around with an interesting idea. The Slow Poke 40 and the Pete N Poke both use the same fuselage. So I'm thinging about bashing them and building a Slow Poke Biplane. What do you think???

It could be done, I think it would be a pretty big kit bash but very doable.
When are you going to get started ?
Please do a build thread.

Chashint,
It would probably be spring at least before I could get one going. I don't even have either kit yet. it's just an idea that I'm toying with. I think about it almost every day at the field when I'm flying my Slow Poke. If I build it I think a FS-70 4-stroke would be a good motor for it. we'll see what happens

RCKen,
You probably build your planes a lot better than I do (meaning yours probably weigh close to the advertized weight and my fat pigs are ... well, fat).
I think a 70 is OK up to about 6.5lbs if it gets heavier than that I like a 91 a lot better.
Each plane is very draggy on its own and adding a wing will make it worse.
With two big wings there will be incredible lifting power so it should be able to fly if there is forward motion but flying and performing are two different things.
Think about your Skybolt or Hog Bipe, how much do each one of these planes weigh ??
Now go ahead and bolt a 91 4s on the nose of the Slow Poke Bipe, you won't regret it, I promise

Chashint,
I have a FS-52 on my Slow Poke 40 and it's a fantastic combo, the plane is pretty much my favorite plane to fly. It's got 185 flights on it with a grand total of over 26 hours of flight. I know the wing is going to add extra drag, that's why I'm thinking about going with a 70 on it.

Hey guys any Hog Bipe builders out there? I'm hoping to build another but have to get one first. Anyone have a kit and willing to trade for an Astro Hog and a few bucks? I have two extra kits and will never build all three of them. Let me know.

Well, he replied to my post in the "Hitting a wall" thread.

He has followed a new passion.

Too bad, I wanted to see his completed Hog bipe.

I am nearing the completion of the top wing and currently sheeting the fuse. I did add a hatch for the fuel tank since I went with a 16 oz tank that can't be removed from the bottom. I don't like building a tank in without a way to access it.

I will give this thread another kick.
I took the Hog Bipe off the building board and did a plane for my brother.
I have been back at it on the bipe for a while now and it is pretty much in the bones.
The top ailerons still need to be fitted and then it will be ready for final sanding and covering.
I have a Magnum 91 fs for power and I will be using Koverall.
The color scheme is still to be determined.
I have been scouring the gallery and this thread for painting ideas.
If Minnflier has a bipe scheme I would like to see it, his color scheme for single wing airplanes works really well.
I never did see Gumhead post any pictures of his Hog Bipe either.

The plane is all covered and painted white. I recently put some color on the bottom wing...

I will post some more pics tonight.

hi guys,
it has been a while since i posted, but speaking of hog bashes, check out my hog bipe and astro hog, both bashed and flying since 1999 with saito 91's regularly. both are covered w/ century 21 and have 16 oz tanks w/ hatches.
since our field is @ 8500 ft. the 4 flaperons on the hog come in handy.
question, has anybody out there bashed a hog bipe into a jenny ?
seems like adding 4 rib bays to the top wing and changing the tail feathers and adding a few inches to the nose would do the trick. just a thought.
