Now that I really sit down and think about when I had a OS 61 in my Hog it really wasn't underpowered. The big reason why I was never happy with it is because of the sound. Nothing sounds as good as a 91 4-stroke in it. That sound of the 4-stroke just sounds sooooooo good in a bipe!!!!

[email protected] I can't get the link to work, I too would be interested in seeing your hog bipe.

Dauntae-

I couldn't get it to work either. Just click on the RCU Gallery link at the bottom of his post, it is in there.

mike, is it me or is your spinner "lower" than on the plans? or is it just an optical illusion with the cowl...

ah, you noticed. saito-91 is mounted much lower, in a cowel that is made up of 1/4 x 1/2 balsa strips, laid on end and sanded to shape, with a "little" elmer's wood putty to fill in the gaps. the nose can stand the weight. i also raised the turtle deck fore and aft of the cockpit to resemble one of curtiss's last generation 'HAWK' biplanes. check out his late 20's schnider (?) cup float planes.

this post includes the hog's big brother, a fun fly foker d-7 look alike scratch built by taking the hog plans and blowing them up 20% and changing the tail feathers to look like a d-7. with an O.S. 120 pumper, this thing is a gas hog, but fun to fly, even though it came out a bit heavy. mike

Is this thread dead? I was enjoying reading it as I built my Hog and have finally finished and flew it and all I lack now is adding some trim on the tops of the wings similar to the box example. Did everyone finish theirs? Mine is a great flying plane. I just took it out for a short shake down flight before threadlocking everything and can't wait to go back out and try a few things with it. It's been a little windy and cold around here but is supposed to get better by this weekend. Anyone else flying theirs? I got plenty of interest at the field as most everyone there was flying ARFs and I don't guess they are used to kit built planes much anymore. Let me hear from you!

Yeah, I haven't been hearing much out of this thread for quite a while. Did Hooked ever get his Hog finished? I finished mine last summer and have flown the heck out of it since then. This was my first bipe and I would have to say it is the best! I am building a Balsa USA 1/4 scale Nieuport 28 right now.... From what I hear it flies a bit different than the Hog. What did you put in the Hog for power Cubfloater?

Does anyone know if Hooked is still out there???? Hellllllooooooo.....hellooo.... helllooo.....[X(]

Dan, I hung a Saito 72 on it and seems to be plenty of power, for me. I like scale-like flying. It took off in about 30 to 50 feet seems like. It ended up just a little over 7 lbs. maybe that's partly why it seems to fly well. How about yours? And I don't know if Hooked finished or not. He kept me going to finish mine. I hope he did or does eventually. You have decent weather where you are to fly now? We have had a batch of cold, windy stuff here.

I have an OS 61 in mine....not a bad motor....except for the un-realistic sound.

Yeah, we have been having some cool and cloudy days here. A bit too windy for flying and some rain here and there. I'm hoping this weekend will be better!

Anyone know Hookedonrc? He out of the hobby? I hope not. I hope he finished his hog bipe or will. It is worth it. I'm a slow builder and it took me from 10/05 to end of 2/06 to get mine done and it still isn't but I'm flying it. I'm having someone else build an astro hog for me as I really wanted one of those first but can't seem to get the building bug but once every two years or so. Maybe I'll crank up another this winter. I think one per winter is good for us slow builders. I think I'd like to try a Sig Something Extra, it easier to build than a Hog Bipe? Or the same minus one wing?

I haven't heard from him in awhile. I know that he had a lot on his plate last year that may have taken him away for awhile. I live not far from him and was going to go up with my Hog Bipe when he maidens his. He promised me that he'd let me know in time enough to plan on getting up there. Hopefully he'll be able to find his way back to the hobby this summer.

Where are you Ken? And are you in the hobby business for a living? I've read many of your posts with lots of good info. Appreciate that!

Cubfloater,
Nope, not in the hobby industry for a living. I am a computer network consultant by trade. RC is my alter ego!!! Just glad that I can help out. I live in SW Oklahoma, Lawton to be exact!!

Hey guys. I had a big yard sale couple months ago and in the process, I lost the plans to my hog bipe. I have looked all over my house and can't find them. Would anyone be willing to scan and email me a copy of just the cockpit pattern and windshield pattern. That's all I need. Everything else is built already. Here's a picture of what I have so far. Some of my mods: Gear is forward, tail is redesigned, and there's a hatch to get to the fuel tank without removing the wing. I'm actually a little more further along than this, but you can see why I need the cockpit patterns.

COOL found a hog bipe forum
This well be the next plane I build after I recover from building the Eaa bipe i'm building now. I love to build but hate carving and tons of sanding and there is a ton it on the Eaa. The hog looks pretty straight forward to build.
LOL another

I've got in on this thread a little late, but I started at the beginning and have enjoyed following the hog build. I am building a Piper Arrow from Top Flite as my first kit and I enjoy looking at the pictures as the build takes place. This gives me the opportunity to compare my overall look of my build to those of you who are far more experienced than I. Although the planes are not alike you can still get a feel for how things are done. I hope we get to see the finished product of hookedonrc Hog. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures I sure would like some constructive criticism on my Arrow. I'll look forward to see what you guys think.
