Haven't tried to shrink covering....yet....but I'll tell you it sure shortens drying time between paint coats!

Here's mine, a 36x80 steel door on top of a roll around base with wall cabinets back to back. Excuse the mess, how do you guys keep your benches so clean?

Thanks, Tinman!

That bed that I just used to dry paint really shrinks ultracote!

Look....

I just tacked the seams and put it in turning the dial to "nuke" and out came a completely finished model.

Maybe better than some current ARFs.

Thanks for the suggestion, it's amazing what 5,000 watts of raw UV-a and UV-b power can do! LOL

Here's mine - went a little crazy with the corian top - but perfectly flat and anything scrapes off with a razor blade.

Well you asked so here ya go, but to get it all in I will have to post a few times. The shop was built by the original owner who also built the house and he was a gun smith. It measures 13'X25'X11' and has about 24' of work table surface. Along the far wall are 3 solid core doors and on top of them I put 1/2" mahagony and it works great. The table is a buffet and it has a solid core door (mahagony also) on it. Yes it's a mess, but heck what shop isn't???

Glad you like it as I sure do. When the Wife and I went house hunting the first thing she said, it has to have a place to put a shop, or a shop all ready there, God I love that woman!!!! The purple plane is a Easy Sport 40 that I really bashed and it's about ready to be moved to my other room, yup have a separate room off the rec room where I keep the finished ones. The framed up one is a 50's era KeilKraft super 60 that I am working on and off with. When that and US 40 are out then down comes my Skyraider and 70's Contender, .40 size!!!!! God I love this sickness called R/C!

OK, here we go: My shop is outside in the garage in what was previously a storage room. The room has both heating and cooling from the house HVAC system. The shop itself measures 8 x 16 and I have bench space on three walls that measure 8x8x13 and a continuous 2 foot depth. I built the bench out of 4x4's and 2x4 frame construction with a 3/4 inch plywood top. I coated the bench top with 7 coats of satin polyurethane which provides a smooth surface to wipe up spills and such. In this picture the shop was criminally clean as the picture was take just after I applied the polyurethane. Trust me guys, it is not this clean now!

Default Workshops

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you all of those of you who were honest enough to show your shops in a lived in state. To all of you with a neat clean shop , you didn't have to tidy up just for us. I had a friend in my shop just after a rare cleaning. He remarked at a club meeting about how nice my shop was. Everyone but him has seen it in it's usual state and they almost laughed him out the door. I like to build at least three planes at a time and my shop looks like a grenade went off in a dumpster. I think a clean shop is a sign of a sick mind. Sa soon as i figure out how to attach a picture of the "hole I will do so.

The picture thing was a great idea!

OK, so I posted a picture of my shop when it was clean. I qualified it though.

I will take another picture of it in it's "natural" state this weekend so you all don't think I have a sick mind.

Cheers

David
