The 1/4 scale Duncan Hutson kit is available in the US as well. Visit www.traplet.com, Look for product code MW3208, The listed proce is $740.60. Bear in mind this is a "short kit " and does not include the more basic wood and hardware pieces. But the plans are superb and the quality of the fibreglass and other mouldings excellent.
Alternatively look at the Clarke Industires Kit. This is a complete kit inclusive of all hardware for about $950 (made in Canada)

www.rcmodelworld.com seems to have several items that will help to increase the details in the model, but they don't have have any pictures of the products. Anybody knows if somebody else has the same products ?
I have a Duncan Hutson based Tiger Moth and I'm in the process of trying to add more details. In the meanwhile, I found this site were they sell 1/4 replica instruments and some other interesting stuff

Neat paint scheme and it must be so cool to own (and fly?) a full-scale. Just out of idle curiousity, would you mind saying how much one would expect to have to pay for a Tiger Moth in certified flying condition?

For anyone building a 1/4 scale Flair Tiger Moth and looking for a gass engine.
The Evolution 35cc fits rather well with some modifications to the fuselage.

This is how my Tiger Moth turned out....... it is equipped with a Saito 180 engine and flies great. Tons of power if you want to do some basic aerobatic maneuvers.

You can find a nice building thread of a 1/4 Flair Tiger Moth model in http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum/...287&PN=1&TPN=1

Thats a great looking Tiger Moth. I went gas because the nearest hobby shop with glow fuel is an hour and a half away and too expensive to have it shipped in.
Thanks for your input. I didn't know about that web sight. I am registering now.

hi people,
im returning to model flight after a 12 year break, i stopped flying due to a transmitter glitch (some idiot decided not to check the peg board before switchin on) anyway i got as far as training and was getting the hang of touch and go's. I now have a Graupner Taxi cup II to learn on...........im waffling now, but what i was wondering is whether after a period of training i would be possible to move on to the tiger moth, i was thinking of building the tiger between learning sessions. I understand that it may be worth investing in a low wing trainer before going on to the tiger. so my plan is 1) High wing trainer 2) low wing trainer and finally 3) the Tiger Moth....is this the way to go, please advise fellows,i need some guidance!!!! p.s i'm looking at a period of years here, i know it doesnt happen over night !!!! :-))

NO TRAINER REQUIRED...THE TIGER MOTH IS A TRAINER
Don't buy an ARF trainer because you think it will be easier to fly than the Tiger Moth. That's simply not true. The Tiger Moth will be easier to fly than any ARF trainer you can buy.
IF YOU STILL WANT AN ARF BUY A TAIL DRAGGER
A BIG downside of most if not all of the ARF trainers out there is that they have tricycle landing gear. That won't prepare you at all for a tail dragger. If you really want to do the ARF thing my suggestion would be to buy a Piper Cub or some similar docile tail dragger. That at least would have value when migrating to the Tiger Moth.
HIGH WING...LOW WING?
I don't understand the high wing low wing concern. It sounds more like you’re preparing yourself for a P-51 Mustang than a Tiger Moth. I think it's over kill. My first RC airplane was the Great Planes Tiger Moth. I learned to fly on her and I still have it 9-years later with hundreds of flights on the log book. Model Airplane News rated it as one of the Top-10 ARFs of all time and the easiest they have ever flown.
BUILD A COOL TIGER MOTH
Don't waste you money on all those other aircraft. Build the Tiger Moth and slap in one of these cool O.S. IL-300 engines. I am attaching a link to a YouTube video of a Flair 1/4th scale Tiger Moth with the IL-300 attached. As soon as you hear the sound of that 4-cylinder you will forget about all of those ARF trainers. The second link is of a Flair Tiger Moth landing. She just floats down so easily. You won't find an ARF that lands like that.

That engine make absolute music. If I had that aircraft it would be my last and I would be happy about it. Seeing that little Moth land, well someone could have convinced me it was full scale. One of my very most favorite planes.

I agree, that engine sounds superb. Once my tiger is finished and airborne im pretty certain that it will be my fave aircraft to fly and probably wouldnt want to fly anything else!! And that clip of the tiger landing was superb especially as it went past the camera just before touch down, it was hard to tell between model and the real thing, the sight and sound combo makes for great viewing. Ive had a love affair with the tiger since i was young (still young at 42 i like to think!!!!), and more so when i was lucky enough to fly from redhill aerodrome here in the UK in G-AOAA Super Tiger, one of the three barnstormers. She was a total gentle lady and a delight fly, no vices and lovely gentle aerobatics, perhaps my tiger will be finished as G-AOAA or maybe in one of the other bewildering colour schemes.........i think thats one of the hardest things to do is to choose a colour scheme!!!!!

The closest I can get to a Tiger Moth right now is an old Matchbox 1:32 scale static display model that makes into an RAF trainer on wheels, on snow skis or a float plane with the enclosed full canopy. This will be the third one I built. I have always been drawn to DeHavilland aircraft. The Beaver,Chipmunk, Super Chipmunk and the Tiger. Can we say we have good taste in aircraft?
Cheers,
Bill

Hi Bill, i've just got a revell 1/32 tiger, a matchbox remould, but unlike the matchbox version it doesnt come with the floats which is shame but nonetheless its a DH !!! shame they dont do a 1/32 scale chippie!!
And yes we do have a good taste in aircraft!!!

Hi
Flair kit is really great. I have one on way from UK to me at the moment
Not sure about the engine as I planned to use Laser 180, but have 3W 28i on shelf.
It will need some mods, but will see. I put the 3W on sale and if someone will buy it I will go for Laser...
Anyway here are some new vids of this bird:

How about I scan them at 600DPI and email you the prints. You can print it out at Kinko's.
I scanned this image from my Flair PT-17 plans so I could see how changing the incidence would affect the length of the cabane struts.
