Hi Guys
Can you please look at your fuse and measure the distance from firewall to end of the cowl?
As there is no complex plan 1:1 of it and 3W has carb in the back it will be great for additional indication for modifying the fuse.
Thank you

Jon,
Did anyone respond about the plans? Are you sorted?
I may be able to help if #3 and #16 are the small pages (I can scan and send them)

I was wondering if any of you out there could help me as I am looking to find out who this Tigermoth was kitted by that I have come across.
It has a two piece plug in wings for the lower and a one piece for the upper. Does this help narrow down who's kit it would have been built from?

I am wanting to start a moth project but not so large as a 1/4 scale, have you still got the scan of the Flair plans and I can reduce them to a 1/5 or 1/6 scale

If you go to the RC model World website (Traplet publishing) They have plans for a several of smaller Tiger Moths incluing a 1840mm electric option (given your alias this may be of interest[
. I bought the Duncan Hutson designed 1/4 scale short kit from them a couple of years ago, just about to start it now - great quality parts and high quality plans and instructions.

Thank you for that reference, although I am not sure what size/scale this model is. I have read the build article of this model. I wanted a larger one that I canscale down and adapt for my own needs. I don't really want a kit. Ideally I would like a 1/4 scale plan of an actual Tiger moth. I was hoping the flair would be close. I will pay reasonable copying cost, or if I can loan the plan you mention, I could get it copyied and scanned

I have just purchased a Duncan Hutson 1/4 scale tiger moth which needs to be re-engined and covered, I would like a really nice sound from the engine which engine/exhaust system would be best ? laser 180 or can you sugest anything, also it needs recovering and sugestions of colour schemes.

I have been flying the Flair Tiger Moth for around two years now' and I am rather surprised at all the mail generated by this very straighforward and simple kit. There is nothing difficult in the build, I built mine in just 8 weeks and it flies perfectly on an OS 120 fourstroke engine.
As reported by other builders, it is true that it requires a bit of lead "up front" and there seems no way of reducing this except for building the tail as light as possible.
However, be assured that the OS120 is perfectly adequate to fly the model, and any concerns about fitting the engine inverted are groundless (good adjective?!) I have had absolutely no problems with flying these engines inverted.
One small tip: the method of bolting the wings on to the fuselage makes for fitting a plug-and socket connexion for the ailerons a perfect solution to connecting them up to the Rx. thus simplifying rigging at the field. The plug/socket connexion can be fitted right next to the wing bolts, ensuring a good tight fit - no more fiddling with plugs and sockets, just attach the wings and fly!
One further small improvement to the "lead-in-the-nose" problem can be made by fitting the scale polished aluminium spinner nuts I manufacture, these are slightly heavier than the usual ordinary (non-scale!) nuts, and are fitted at the extreme forward position possible!

Have you got any photos of your spinner? I'm building a Flair Tiger Moth and want to increase the nosewieght.

I have recently purchased the 1/4 scale Flair Tiger Moth. I am trying to decide on the proper power plant. I want to have a gas engine but do not know what would be my best choice. Would the DLE 20 @ 2.5 hp do the job? It has conventional glow mounting. Or, would the JCEVO @ 28cc @ 3.0 hp work? There is also the 26GX Evolution with glow mounting. Another possiblility is the G23 Zenoah. If anyone has any suggestions or comments, I will appreciate the feedback. Dave A., Harriman, TN.

Anything with side exhaust may be a problem. I have a great 3W-24 I had my heart on using, but will not work. I just found a RCS 140 rear exhaust that will work perfect as it mounts like a glow engine and has the power of a 120-150 4-stroke. If you are interested, I can contact the guy I got mine from as he has a friend with one and may be willing to sell it.

Dave A. - Here are a few photos of mine the the RCS/MacKay 140. I think it is going to be excellent.

Jon, Thanks for posting the pictures. Nice neat looking plane! Yes, the RCS 140 fits perfectly. Now I just have to locate one. Take care, Dave A.

No problem Dave. If I run across one I'll let you know.
As I work more on mine, I realize it was probably flown at one time and someone decided to remove the covering and do it over. How about this...the cowl is silver and there were traces of yellow film. I would be willing to bet it was the same color scheme of yellow and silver. Why anyone would cover an old time plane with film and not fabric is beyond my way of thinking.
I'm covering mine with Coverite fabric and will paint it to look like the photo attached.

Hi all,
Ibeen messing around with rc models for over 50 years now, I have a precedent stamp which I built in 1995 and still flys well on a super tigre 2500 with petrol conversion.
I thought my building days were over due to lack of income, but my wife came back on day from the local council skip/dump with what she said was a 'big box of balsa wood'!
This 'Big box' was anUNTOUCHED Flair 1/4 scale Tiger Moth, the kit was complete with the exception of the cowl and one wheel which mising, all 16 inst and building instructions
and plans unopened theall hardware bags present and in tact.. A few of the stringers had hada visit from a puppy by thelook of the teeth marks.
I have the model readyfor covering, a build which I thoroughly enjoyed and can only praise Flair for theirvery detailed a and complete building info.
I have a few points I hope some one can assist with.
Any easy way of connecting and accesing wing servo leads inside fusulage?
I have used the cowl from the Stampe to make a mold for the cowl front am I correct in saying this is similar in profile.
The spin strakes have been well chewed (as have all the abs parts} are these essential for good flight chars. or arey the only a scale detail?
Will a super tigre with say an 17x10 do for power?
Cheers
