Mine is built, covered in water-based poly & 1/4 oz. fiberglass, filled, sanded, and ready to get its first coat of paint. I'm going to try Roy Vaillancourt's latex paint method. I flew a Porsche-powered Mooney at the local dealer, and, as I owned a 911, that was a very special day. Hope to paint it in the same scheme, which was ( and I know this sounds awful ) white, dark brown, & dark taupe, w/a red stripe.
A very rare bird, indeed.
Are you planning to build yours, Mr. Miller ?

I was 15 when my father was designing and producing these kits as he was one of the R’s in TRI-R. I remember watching the maiden of the prototype as I did with all the kits and it was a great flyer. I have the YAT I finished in 07 and it flies great. It will be extremely hard to find anything on these kits. Back then adding pictures to the manual was not in the cards as these were produced in a basement with jigs and band saws, circular saws and a host of creative production methods. I hope you enjoy the build. I traced all the parts before I built if I decided to do it again or forward to a kit cutter.

I was fortunate to find a Tri-R Mooney last summer, restore it and fly it successfully. It's a great plane with no undesirable tendencies. I have a few more finishing touches to add such as the nose wheel hatch doors, etc. But since these planes are near impossible to find, I'm inspired to scratch build my next one. I love this aircraft design along with the Bonanza V35.

Hey, thanks for responding ! I have "too many" unfinished planes, and that's one of them. Maybe this'll inspire me to exhume it from a closet. it's fairly-completely built, missing many details, but some sanding and primer may just turn that corner.
I'm thinking about using Vaillley Aviation's latex house paint method, not sure...

Hopefully, your Mooney will get pushed up to the assembly table.
