Supposed to be a women pilot there. Just joking with the pics.
That 4-stroke is going to sound Nice on your Hog! I only have a 70 surpass on mine but thinking about sticking my 91 surpass on it.
Good job!

Hi guys. Took the Hog up on a windy day. Almost lost it on landing. Well everything is well and the maiden is successfull. With the help of my friend Steven doing the video, I was struggling to keep her steady in the wind.

Congratulations, Mechplas,
I just found this thread today, 2/12.
Nice video of a your maiden flight by a well-built built Astro Hog. Great! I love my Astro Hog. I also have the Saito .91. I left all the dihedral in. Separate aileron servos. Since these pix, I have added more graphics to the fuselage sides. No pictures, tho.

LOL
If that right wing would have been 1 inch lower on the landing, you'd be on the repair bench right now!
That would have been a Nice Cartwheel!
Nice job of getting it up. Hope ya like your Hog! I know I like mine.

Yeh, honestly my knees were shaking througout the whole flight.
At the same time I was mesmerized and captivated by the hogs' smooth flying characteristics.
I know I will love it more on non-windy conditions.

Hi Vinnie, I noticed that your exhaust points up 45º. I need to do that also because my hand and leg took a nitro facial treatment that day...
That is to "try" to keep the canopy area and tail a little cleaner. Does it work? Maybe a little.

I guess it would help a bit. Hmm I also noticed that your Saito 91 muffler is diff from mine, its more slender.
i am yet to install the windshield and a pilot... still looking for a pig doll.
This is my pig doll. I had to awaken my Hog fuse from it's deep winter slumber to shoot these pictures.
It is a 1 1/2 round "Piglet" (from Winnie the Pooh) foam antenna ball. Found it when visiting Disneyworld. As far as the muffler, it is a little older engine, like around 2000 or so.

ha ha ha, very cute.
soft toy or hard plastic? i saw a few of pig dolls here but all of them were made of fabric and I am worried that it will soak up all the goo from the exhaust..

Thanks.
The Specktrum is great!!! nothing beats the idea of not having to check freq with others and yet remain safe for all. I am still unused to not having a long antenna on the TX though.

Wow, great video... have been wondering what's up with the hog. Can't wait to complete mine and get it in the air. I'm almost to the ARF stage.

mechplas it was great seeing a hog fly again, brought back a lot of memories. pilot error killed mine a couple
years ago. it was about 8 years old when it went down, boy that hurt. but yes im building another as we speak,
finishing up the wing now. glad i found this thread, gives me a little more drive
i had a super tigre 61 in the
old one and it was just fine. this one also will be a dragger, like the last one. that was my favorite plane and im
sure it will be again. nice job on your build, looks great.

Thank you! I am glad to hear you are building another. Why don't you try a four stroke this time? .... it will be be more intoxicating.

the old st 61 has a deep roar to it, not the high pitched whine like the newer motors. i have
never had a 4 stroke, all of them are 2 strokes. i want this plane to be as close to my first one
as possible. besides in the last 6 years i have sunk a boat load of money in 1/8 scale buggies.
i dont want to stir the wife up no more than i have to!

Hello all:
This is my first attempt to post a picuture I hope it works. Here's a shot of my Hog, got it finished late in the fall and haven't had the maiden flight yet. Weather here in Indiana HORRIBLE we are enduring 15"+ of snow with high winds second day of snow emergency. Getting a lot of reorganizing of my build shop and trailer done.
Built the hog with diehedral called for in the plans. One servo per aileron and also flaps. Just for kicks I animated the pilots head with a servo, I can switch it to follow the rudder or switch it to a slider on my EVO , kids love it.
OS 70 Surpass II
Wheel pants by Fiberglass Specialities.
Monokote with Monokote trim had cut.
Futaba on board. EVO for transmitter.
Thanks Kev.
Pardon my spelling I looked everywhere for spell check, guess I missed it somewhere. Boy have I gotten spoiled.
