Finally had time to get some fly time, this plane handles real well and does slow down nice and is very stable. I ordered a 9x8.5 prop-I need more speed.

I use "t" fittings on several of my planes and they work great. You will have to pinch off the fuel to the carb though. Just get a cheap pair of Hemostats. Those are perfect for that. You know it would not be an issue if we still had the front needle carbs from the dangerous days!.

The Plane doesn't have a split elevator so you can't get to the Rudder for your typical spring set-up. Check out earlier posts/pictures and you'll see what I mean. I finding the rudder useless anyway-don't help at Mach II. Grey Beard-Today was great, very little wind, and the engine is breaking in, did some passes about 5 feet off the deck and this little plane is amazing. The 9x8.5 should utilize the available power. With the 9x7 it is unloading ???????????? Unreal. I'm totally hooked on the speed thing now, so I lost all my senses. Gotta try for a little more-will it end?

Frenchie, all the guys I know that have gotten into the speed thing are hooked and I see no end to it. Sorry, your stuck. You'll just have to live with it.
If you have deep pockets you really should try one of those JETT engines. If you can get one of Clarence Lees racing K&Bs then that's another good choice. I have been told he was making them again??

That's A hot rod WEBRA .55 and A tuned muffler the owner supplyed. I don't know the make of the muffler but when I was the pit man for him and he had the engine in another plane it brought the RPM way up on it. I can't remember how much but it was A lot. My problem with it is the weight of the muffler, I think he could get A lighter one and still get the RPMs he likes. As I recall the rules forbid tuned pipes and that was the reason for this type of muffler. He plans on comming out at the end of the month and giving it the maiden so I have to get in gear and finish it up for him. This one I'm not going to maiden for him, I suspect A rocket with A wing from this little guy.

God I can only imagine how fast. The .46 I put in mine really rocks and thats nothing compared to the webra 55. Get a picture or two at take off and fly-by. Nice job looks lite.

I'm sure I can get A lot of ground photos but with my camera I can't even get A shot of A low and slow fly by of A Cub. The plane weighs almost nothing when I take out the engine and muffler but it really seems to heavy up when all assembled. I out smarted myself and made the plane too light in the back and I may still end up using the evil lead in the butt. I have the elevator servo and battery way in the back and there is nothing in front of the CG except the fuel tank. I'll see what happens after I get it covered. I will weigh it with and without the engine and let you know what my fishing scale says.

I put the elev servo all the way to the rear + tail wheel set-up and still had to add about 1/2 oz.

I maidend my Kobra today.
1st Flight : Take off , Turn around , Dead stick... Land in long gras and noses over, No damage.
2nd Flight : Flew around about 20 mins @ half throttle.Damn its fast , even with a .25.
Needed 1 click down and 3 clicks aileron trim to fly straight and level. Nice little plane. Looks good in the air!
Doesnt slow down alot on Final. but had a very smooth landing once over the runway at idle rpm.

Then someone from the complex I stay in phoned and said my dogs are out of the yard and I had to go home and beat the living daylights out of them,,(no just joking)

Doesnt slow down alot on Final. but had a very smooth landing once over the runway at idle rpm.

Great looking bird!

Try this:

This is only a reference but if you practice doing it the same every time, you will end up with more consistent landings. You can enter the pattern over the runway or enter on the downwind leg, it dosen't matter. Use landmarks (trees, buildings, etc.) for altitude and position reference. As your airspeed slows, more up elevator is required to maintain level flight, up to the point where the airspeed is reduced to stall speed. But we don't want to go that slow trying to land. The point is, you want to have the plane flying a decent with a little power at a stable airspeed without having to hold up elevator. This makes it easy to use power to adjust the glide path. For instance, if you are on final, and it looks like it will be short, you add a little power and it will arrest the decent rate and bring it back on the glide slope without pulling on the elevator. You want to end up bleeding off airspeed and altitude smoothly all the way down to the runway.

Experiment with your plane at a safe altitude to get used to how it behaves at low airspeeds and stalls. Find out what power setting it takes to fly just above stall speed trimmed in a stable decent. Once you do this, you can enter the landing pattern and know how to set a known landing configuration (power & trim). It will take lots of practice but you will eventually get it worked out for a particular aircraft and nail it every time.

Congrats-Thats great, when you get tired of the 25-stuff a 46 in it. Can't wait to fly mine with the new OS 46ax. You will find out this plane does land at a pretty slow speed, my first few flights I brought it in way to hot and didn't need to, Tryed some stalls way up high and it just droppeds the nose at a much slower speed than I thought possible. Winter here right now, looking at a foot plus of snow on the ground. I fly my Kadet 40 with ski's when its nice out. Good luck

Thanks for that , exactly what I did. Strangely I learned this a couple of years ago with Microsoft Flight Sim 98. Works perfectly on RC planes using Object to position the plane.

Luckily it doesnt snow here , so we can fly all winter too.

It was very fast with the Magnum 46, had about eight flights, but the motor just don't run very good-transition sucks. I gave up on the cheaper motors, going to run with the OS engines, they never give me problems, Plus I can turn a APC 9x7.5 faster than the Mag would turn a 9x7. Can't wait-its fun to have at least one screaming plane.

Photos?? Where are the stinking photos??????????? I have seen some newer threads about this plane, just can't remember where?? Senior Moment, could just be a brain fart!! Kidding aside, most the guys would love to see your plane. The SIG Kobra is an all time favorite.
